I always like Sarong the food is wonderful with the service always attentive and friendly

Make sure you book in advance if you have a big group or want a early dinner but it is open late so you can usually sneak a table after 9 ish

I LOVE the ACEH lamb shank the curry is a separate spicy broth that i could eat with just rice and be exceptionally happy and then you add the lamb shank and well its making my mouth water writing the review

Then here was the suckling pig with crispy crackle, soft juicy meat and sambals for dipping WOW!
I cannot describe the pork it was a pork lovers dream

Sarong is a must every time you are in Bali

Sarong is easily one of the best restaurants in Bali. The staff are well versed in the menu, the service is impeccable, the gardens and decor give the place a luxurious feel and the food is amazing.

Sarong's menu is extensive, wildy varied, with traditional dishes done well and imaginative, innovative dishes that really show off the chef/owner Will's flair. This visit my wife and I ordered both of the scallop dishes, Pakora Zucchini flowers and the pork belly for entree, whilst all dishes were fantastic, the pork belly as always was the stand out, the pork is delicately spiced and melts in you mouth with perfect black vinegar caramel, and tart mandarin and nam jihm to cut through the fattiness of the meat, the portion is extremely generous which is good because otherwise we would just order more. The downside is that this will ruin you for anyone else's pork belly, it is that good

For mains we ordered the Thai Beef Tartar, it was fresh and firey with plenty of thai herbs to keep it light, a great fusion dish. We also ordered the turmeric fish, this had great flavours but my only complaint is that it would be good to know that it served whole, something my wife does not enjoy. Also ordered some fluffy jasmine rice and delicous garlic naan.

Drinks wise Sarong had an extensive selection of wines, cocktails and spirits which we have both enjoyed in the past with only a limited selection of beers (not unusual in Bali). However this time we both felt like a cider and this was not available, the local Albins cider is decent and would be a welcome addition to the menu. They do however offer free flow Pelligrino sparkling and still water for a very reasonable 45k, the waiters are attentive and this is always topped up

All in all another great meal at Sarong, we have never had a bad meal here and we will be back soon, please make sure there is plenty of pork belly available!

We went to all the restaurants our friends (and the internet) recommended. eg: Metis, Sarong Mamasan, Sardine, La Luciola etc. and while the other places were lovely too, the top of our list for best dining experiences, were BY FAR Sarong and Mamasan.

Mamasan we enjoyed more for food, but that may just be down to what we ordered.
Sarong is just that little bit more gorgeous a setting, and a bit more bali with the open sided building and outdoors indoors feel.

At Sarong we had the betel leaf, and both types of scallop, then the pork belly, then the lamb shank, then the dessert plate.

All of it was outstanding. Be aware that they do make it spicy (and I like spicy!) so if you're a little unsure just say so, go on the conservative side and just add extra if you need it.
I'm a firm believer in having it "how the chef recommends" though!

The dishes are large, so don't go crazy ordering (you can easily order more). The dessert tasting plate would EASILY feed 3-4.

Some say it's expensive, but NOT if you come from Sydney. You'd pay at least double the price for something half as good in Sydney.

This is a NOT TO BE MISSED restaurant in Bali.
