Description: Bali Asli is located in Gelumpang village, near the town of Amlapura, the capital of Karangasem regency, in the North East of Bali. About 2 hours drive from the airport, and 30 minutes from Candidasa village, and 30 minutes from Amed village. Nestled in the foot hills of Mount Agung, Bali's most sacred mountain, surrounded by rice fields, there is not a building to be seen. Bali Asli promotes Balinese cuisine and culture without exploiting it or it's people. We embrace our community, supporting those who fish, farm and forage in the near by fields, ocean and jungle. Our menu offers authentic Balinese food using a traditional Balinese style kitchen, cooking on wood-fired, mud brick stoves, allowing the real flavours of Bali to shine. Most of our ingredients are either grown in our garden, in our neighbour's garden or purchased from the local market The cooking school runs unique classes themed on "a day in the life of..." every class an adventure into local areas off the beaten track.

SUKSMA for Bali Asli Team!🙏
It has been a great pleasure for getting this introduction course for balinese cooking!👍 which we enjoyed and appreciated very much.
Very kind and great team, delicious food and a breathtaking view to the Mt. Agung and rice fields.

We went for a cooking class, and were delighted by the architecture of the restaurant. We met Penny, the owner and our instructor. She gave us a ton of insight as to the ingredients we were to be using, the cooking techniques and so much more. We cooked using basic non electric good old fashioned hand tools and gas and wood stoves. The entire restaurant does it this way. After tasting the food, I think that is the right way. With her guidance, we prepared five courses of local foods, from rice to fish to chicken. At the end of the class, we dined on our own (with a lot of help from our instructor) creation. One of the highlights of our two weeks in bali. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Penny the owner and Chef of Bali Asli is a wonderful ambassador for Balinese cooking and culture! We spent the day learning about Bali's history, culture, spices, and then we prepared a 5-dish meal that was delicious. Do not miss this experience!

Location location location. Incredible views for a very spacial restaurant. A bit difficult to find unless your driver knows about it or that you use a gps like gogglemaps. They have local cuisine classes that you eat afterwards. Truly a experience. Awesome views of the wilderness.

We went to Bali Asli looking forward to a tasty and beautiful Balinese lunch. We definitely were not disappointed in that area! The food was great, and the view breathtaking. The only letdown for us was the service. Unfriendly an inattentive at first (our table was not ready yet, and when someone finally informed us we could sit at another table while waiting, this was done with a long face), and more friendly but still with an insincere smile while seated. The drink I ordered was forgotten twice.
All in all great food, but not the experience we were hoping for on our 5 year anniversary.
