Owner description: The former royal palace of Tirtagangga (which means water of the Ganges, Hinduism's holy river) features tiered fountains, gardens, and stone sculptures of mythical creatures spouting water into bathing pools. Just outside the palace grounds, the views of the lush rice paddies of northeastern Bali are stunning.

Water palaces are a relaxing visit on a hot day. And this one is very pretty and entertaining with the fish pond. It gets a little crowded but the pictures make up for it!

Buy some fish food before you go into this lovely place. Not only is is a peaceful, beautiful and interesting little palace, it is enormous fun to feed the huge fish who almost jump out, open- mouthed for a feed!
Children would love the stepping-stones and the fish. I am definitely grown-up and adored it!

One of the first must-do from early vacation planning – Tirta Gangga raised up to the expectations. Bathing here is a must for a great time.

We visited Tirta Gangga on the way from Sidemen to Amed. It was a stop of about one hour we spent visiting the gardens, walking the pods on the water (Bianca unfortunately even fell from one and got a bit of panic with all the fish there).

The highlight was the bath we took in the natural pools – we jumped and jumped and jumped 100 times. And swam around. It was cooling us off in that rather hot day.

The entrance is at IDR 30’000 adult and IDR 15’000 the children – with extra IDR 10’000 to pay if you want to swim. Worth every single penny.

Although not very extensive, and very turistic (even in September), the place is beautifull and definitely worth a visit. The garden plants are beautifull, and the sculptures are very interesting. Also a possibility of walk on stone plates on the water is something uncommon.

After finishing the visit it is worth to go a bit (not even a kilometer) in the direction opposite to Amlapura for great rice terraces views (and Mt. Agung).

Tirta Gangga is really worth your time. Like anything picturesque, you will have many who are far too engaged in photo taking to really be in the now and take it in but I would advise that when you stroll through the water labyrinth that you put your phone away and just enjoy how lovely the surroundings are. If you must take a photo then circle back and walk across the stepping stones a second time. There are lovely manicured gardens and an ancient cold pool accessible for swimming that once catered to royalty. Don't rush. Be in the beauty.
