Wonderful place to stay as a couple or family!
Although each room is wonderfully decorated, is perfectly clean, I recommend the Penthouse rooms as they are up in the hill, and away from the early bustle of the road below.
We did stay one night on the "ground" level though, still was very nice, a bit noisier than the Penthouse we got afterwards (4 nights)
Terrific view (from the Penthouse rooms) overlooking the sea and the roof tops (lovely sight to see the local fishing boats return, early in the morning). Fun shower with an open roof! Air con a relief to cool down after a long hot day :)
2 great pools, clean, spatious, fresh bath towels.
Breakfast a treat, hearty servings, lots to choose from.
Very affordable in regards to the level of service and quality.
Scooter (in good con) or taxis for rent on spot (i got one for 4 days, no hassle)
Btw. great Japanse restaurant just nextdoor... book early, they only have a few tables and are quite popular!

Awesome hotel, we got great room "Penthouse" with terrace on the top of the whole hotel. Great sea view from there. They have beatiful two pools and another two for guests in special appartaments. Very good restourant, it's about 50% more expensive than any average restourant on Bali, but the chief makes miracle with the food, he could surprise me every day with his ideas.
Very nice and friendly staff, especially girls working at the reception and bar, they can built this family-like attitude from very first day.

We stayed at Blue Moon Villas for 3 nights in the Blue Ocean Villa. This room had a view over the lower pool looking out to sea. The accommodation was lovely, rooms were clean and the attention to detail with flowers decorating the room made it even more special. The staff were always friendly, approachable and happy to help with questions. We organised with Blue Moon Villas for an airport pick-up in Bali and the driver was super friendly even cooking us up some dinner when we arrived late and the restaurant was closed.

The food at the restaurant was fantastic and we ate at the restaurant for all our meals during our stay. The chef even came out to go through the specials!

Location wise - Amed is super relaxing and quiet. It really depends what you are looking for but we enjoyed the few days we had just relaxing. The area is quite spread out but if you want to explore you can hire a moped from the hotel. Nearby at a Japanese shipwreck site the snorkelling is fantastic and we saw just as much snorkelling as we did on previous dive trips. We didn't dive in the area but heard it was also good. The beaches nearby are not ideal for sun lounging as they are full of the fishing boats that are out every morning. The beaches are also black sand with loads of stones. However, we spent most of our days relaxing by the pool. Blue Moon Villas has two pools you can use, unless you are staying in one of the new villas on the sea front with a separate pool. We didn't stay in the new villas but location wise they looked fantastic as they were right on the cliffs looking out to sea. The villa we stayed at (and the reception etc) was just set back from the road but don't worry there was hardly any traffic at all to even notice and most accommodation in Amed appeared to have a similar layout.

We were recommended this place by a friend and we will definitely (and already have) be recommending Blue Moon Villas for anyone going to Bali.

I still miss this hotel and this part of Bali. I can't put my finger on exactly why this was a highlight of my trip but I think it had something to do with the authenticity of Amed. The hotel was peaceful and the setting was amazing for the price. The night we arrived we were two hours late and yet the masseuse was still waiting for us and the cook prepared us a meal even though the kitchen was closed. This is in no way a "Five Star Hotel" but it deserves 5 stars for service, cleanliness and quality at a very reasonable price.

I am upset that I did not find this place earlier in my travels to Bali. The staff here take Balinese hospitality to another level, the rooms are very clean albeit a little dated all the amenities are available. Value for money for rooms, food and drinks is second to none. If in Bali do yourself a favour and take the time to travel the 3 hours from the airport to experience Bali heaven you cannot find anywhere else on the island.

We (a family of 4) spend 5 nights at Blue Moon Villa (the new Blue angel villas at the seaside) and we had a wonderful time. The views were fantastic, the infinity pool was wonderful, and the big patio with a large daybed was great. We spend a lot of time there, from watching the sunrise, to relaxing in the afternoon, playing games and reading books.
It was not noisy at all - I had been worried from reading other reviews, but noise was not an issue at all during our stay - on the contrary.
We had most of our meals at the restaurant, and the food is soo good! The breakfast is good and there is something for everyone to choose from. The indonesian dishes were great - the Nasi Campur the best I had in Bali.
There was a small issue concerning the safe in the villa, but this was quickly sorted. Another small problem was the door to the private patio in front of the room - this was difficult for me to close and open with the key, but fortunatly I had my strong husband at hand! the only issue for me was the bed - I found it quite hard, but the kids loved it, so we simply switched!
I really hope to come back to Blue Moon Villa!

This a truly a gem in Bali that is away from the hustle and bustle of usual Kuta area.
It is about 3 hours drive from Denpasar airport but i would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a quiet, and secluded area for a retreat, it is worth every of your effort to get there.
We stayed at the Blue Paradise penthouse, it is a gorgeous balinese room concept overlooking the ocean. The view is simply awesome. East facing, which means you get to see the sunrise every morning. There are also a few snorkeling site nearby as well within walking distance or a short drive away and the colourful fishes you can see here are amazing.
The restaurant food here is prepared with much passion and we had our meals here almost everyday. Highly recommended are their balinese and seafood dishes.
Maybe because this is the more rural area of Bali and their limited rooms capacity, over here, i felt that i get to experienced the true balinese hospitality. All the staff here seem stress free and are friendly and approachable.
Thank you for the wonderful experience and we hope to be back soon.
