The rooms at the Blue Moon Villas were well done and very clean. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. I like the smaller, more intimate feeling one gets at a place like this. I enjoy this more than a 5 star resort where employees wear white gloves. One day at the villas they asked me what I wanted for dinner. I said a piece of chicken would be good. That afternoon, while sitting out in the dining area, we saw a moped pull up and the girl on back jumped off with a plastic bag over her arm. There was a live chicken peering out the top of the bag. Needless to say, I had a very fresh and well prepared piece of chicken for dinner that night!
The breathtaking views of the sunrise are worth getting up for when staying here. They made massage reservation nearby and arranged the transport for it.

We loved Amed, so far away from the maddening crowds of southern Bali. The drive to Amed region is beautiful so dont be put off by the distance. The coastline of amed area is accessed by a winding coastal road and lots of pretty bays and cliffs.
We stayed at Blue Moon with is one of the more upmarket properties. the ANGEL villas are the best location so if you have a few extra $$ its worth it. Meals are fabulous at Blue moon so make sure you enjoy a few here. We also ate at a few warung in the area and they were also good at bargain prices.
this is a really sleepy place so dont come here looking for a night club but do come here to seek relaxation and peace.

I cannot remember how many times I have had the good fortune to visit Amed and stay at Blue Moon Villas, and every time I want to stay. How charming it is to wake up in the early morning as the fleet of juking (little outrigger fishing boats) sail past on their return to the beaches below. They look like brilliant butterflies, skittering across the waves. Then a refreshing dip in one of the lovely pools, a good breakfast, and a whole day ahead of you to explore the Amed area -- or to do nothing zealously! The rooms are all lovely and clean, the food is delicious, and the staff is sincerely friendly and just attentive enough. I can't wait to return!

We stayed for 3 nights which was not long enough. We stayed in the Angel sea View room and we could not have been happier. We shared a pool with another couple but it was like a private villa. The staff at the restaurant were fantastic and the food was amazing. The area is quiet and has a lovely local feel to it. We booked transport through the hotel and it was a good deal with a friendly and knowledgable driver. Just go!

Room Tip: Angel Sea View room and the penthouse. Also suitable for a family group.

We stayed 8 nights here in November. We were in the 60/Euro night room in the upper area of the resort, which is the lowest priced room in the Villas. It was perfectly fine thou the wireless internet would not work around our room and if one wanted to use the internet you had to go down around the pool. Breakfast was very good, loved the local noodle Dish. We went down to the beach close to the hotel most days we were there, beautiful corals and sand. We also walked a mile or so further past the resort to the beach with the Japanese wreck, quite different corals in this area and different beach area being stones, and we also walked a few miles the other way on the road to different beaches that were also excellent for snorkelling with different varieties of corals and fishes again. Seeing all the local boats out on the ocean in the morning looked really cool. We ate most of our dinners at the restaurant on the beach closest to the hotel. Food was excellent and about 60% of the price in the restaurant at the Blue Moon. Blue Moon restaurant prices seemed pretty high.......we're not back home in Canada and don't expect to pay about the same for meals that we do here! We've been a bit spoilt by the prices in Thailand also maybe. We found the Blue Moon pictures on their website make the resort look a bit better then it really is as others have mentioned....no big deal, it is a beautiful resort that they look after well. Service was excellent and we had no problems at all.

Overall we enjoyed our stay in Thailand (Phuket - Kata beach area) more and likely won't go back to Bali but we are very glad we went to the Amed area, snorkelling was awesome!
