“Paradise Found”

From the moment we arrived we were astounded at how beautiful and serene the location and residence was. The individual Javanese huts were awe inspiring and well appointed- a great mixture of old world charm with modern amenities. The photos did not do it justice which is generally the opposite of our past experience. We tend to mostly find that the photos over represent how good a residence is. This is our fifth Bali villa and by far the best, we would never stay anywhere else when in Amed. Combine that with our love of scuba diving and paradise :-)

We came to The Kampung with 6 kids (4 teenagers and two in their early 20"s). Everyone loved the Kampung, the location, the residence and of course the staff. They are absolutely genuine in their endeavour to create the perfect holiday for everyone. Wayan was amazing in his enthusiasm to help us. Nothing was too much for them and they wanted to help us in any and every way. They kept the residence scrupulously clean, the gardens were lovingly tended to and the food cooked was better than almost all of the restaurants that we visited, Made is a fabulous chef.

All the previous reviews were 100% correct, The Kampung is a home away from home and very much like visiting family. We could not fault this residence on any aspect and will definitely be back.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff who made this or best Bali experience yet!!!

All of my family fell in love with the Kampung on arrival. It had a safari lodge feel with five star furnishings and fittings. The staff were fantastic and did everything with a smile making us feel as if nothing was too much trouble. My eight year old had a whole entourage of staff looking after him when he got a splinter. Made cooked us delicious food at a fraction of the price in resturants and with far superior service. All the bedrooms have beautiful linen and mosquito nets. Bill must be congratulated for building the Kampung with such incredible vision and attention to detail. The sheer effort of sourcing all the beautiful wood and the furniture is incedible and would usually only be found on a house someone was going to live in themselves. The beach is stoney so beach shoes are needed, however, snorkeling just 30m from the villa is excellent as it is in the next bay which has an under water temple. You can paddle there on the handy two man canoe at the villa. Life jackets are supplied as well. The lack of TV was a bonus to us as it forced the children to just play games and have fun as a family. The pool was always clean and inviting and had a shallow section good for young children. Our only regret was we didn't stay ther long enough. A great place to relax and unwind. Booking was easy and Bill arranged all our transfers. We broke up the journey by stopping at the White Beach and the water palace of Tirtagangga which are both worth a stop and good for families.

I stayed at Villa Kampung with 2 teenagers and an 8 year-old. We all loved it. The rooms are very attractively-furnished combining a Balinese atmosphere with a high degree of comfort. Delightful, outdoor bathrooms (spotlessly clean). Pleasant pool with terrace accessing the beach directly. In a country where one quickly becomes accustomed to warm smiles and a warm welcome, the villa staff are nonetheless exceptional. They certainly convinced us that it really was a genuine pleasure to look after us and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Our stay was managed efficiently, attentively and sensitively and we enjoyed every meal, tasting some delicious Balinese dishes while plainer food was provided for my (not very sophisticated) 8 year-old. Detailed (accurate) information and advice was provided whenever we had questions, my teenage boys were cared for when they fell off their scooter (!) ..... I honestly can't think of a single criticism. This was my second visit to Bali and I have stayed in a fair number of different places. This villa is exceptionally good. A huge thank you to everyone.

“Best place of our trip”

Amed in itself is a quiet area, with only one small road on which you can drive a scooter without any fear. There are incredible spots for snorkelling and diving, as well as a nice sandy beach (Lipah) and beautiful panoramas when you drive down to the south. Local people as well as tourists are friendly and I felt less "harassed" than in other parts of Bali. The only recent development of the area is an asset, but still it is easy to find everything you need (small supermarkets, restaurants, bars with live music...).
If you want to benefit a bit more of this magnificent area, you will choose to stay at the Kampung, which has been probably our best experience in Bali. The place in reality is more beautiful and luxurious than the pictures can show.
The staff is always ready to help you, whether you need a scooter, a boat to see the sunset, your laundry done, a good meal, a table at a restaurant...they take care of everything very quickly and all you have to do is to relax. Add that they serve excellent food for really just the cost of the ingredients. Compared to other places the price you pay to stay is extremely competitive.
Booking the place was very easy with the owner - or manager - being always very reactive and friendly.
We would definitely stay here again (a longer time) if we were to come back to Bali.
