We stayed at Jukung on recommendation from a friend who had stayed there a year before. It located right on the beach (black sand so not overly impressive but snorkling is good) which was nice and in a very green garden. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us with trips. They helped us arranged transfer and a fast boat over to Gili Air which we would throughly recommend, although we would probably say to go from Padang Bai because it's cheaper. There are some very sweet and good restaurant along the dark little road that Jukung is on, the guys at Jukung recommended a restaurant (don't remember the name) and it was great! The room we had was without air conditioning so warm but the fan was effective. The sheets were clean and the bed comfortable. I would say the room was very dark but had good lighting around the bed for reading and also mosquito nets. The bathroom we had was an outside 'garden' bathroom but it was fine, very basic with cold water only but it was all you needed, given the heat. There was no problem with mosquitos even though it was partly open. The towels were a little old and small but clean all the same. We had a nice evening in Amed, felt safe and enjoyed a party on the beach! This is a good place to stay if you just want somewhere fairly basic and for a good rate, we paid 200,000 rupiah for one night.
