“Visitng the Temple might be refreshing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

Lies majestically on the coast overlooking the sea is this Kumari Amman (Kanyakumari Temple) of Goddess Devi Kanyakumari. Navaratris and Baishaki’s are over crowded. A holy temple to rejuvenate your mind. Beware of the Hawkers, Beggars, Temple Priest who pester you to take a tour of the temple and unnecessarily demand money in the name of donation. There are some dress code if you want to perform puja- Men need to wear dhoti and without any shirt and Women are required to wear fully covered clothes and take a head scarf. Near the Temple entrance you have place to borrow Dhotis. The temple is a walk away from the main town and very close to the beach bazaar. Don’t get carried away by the priests it is worth waiting for your turn patiently. Non-Hindus are barred from entering the temple. No photography area. The local people believe a dip at the Temple shore is auspicious.

“Fairly old temple ...but tick in the box type”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2012

Temple is situated next to the jetty for Rock Memorial. Its an ancient temple, males have to enter with a bare upper body (shirt & vest to be removed).

Couldn't spot the diamond nose ring associated with some stories about this temple. Cameras have to be deposited outside the temple with a person, who just dumps it in a tray. That was a bit scary especially if you have an expensive cam.

“The Diamond Nose Stud”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2012

The temple was under renovation and the public headcount was less. But I realized the Diamond nose ring and the ship Myth is absolutely true when I saw sparkle of it. The first time I faced the travancore style of temple visit, bare chested.
