Location is fantastic, among the best views I have seen in Western India (mountain, lake and a beautiful sunrise). The resort is actually still under construction and only 80 odd rooms of the planned 250 are currently available. The layout is massive , spread over 45 acres, only parts of it are landscaped, lots of arid vegetation in between. Great views all round of the Tungi hill, lakes and a bunch of hills around. Issue with the layout is that you spend anywhere from 10-20 mins to get anywhere which is all the more arduous when you factor in the blazing heat (It gets really hot, really fast).

The rooms were a lot more spacious and well equipped than some of the more traditional Club Mahindra properties e.g Varca beach or Coorg. We stayed at the 1BR type which was very comfortable for 4 adults.

The key downer for me was the food - only 2 restuarants of which the Mexican restaurant is just for show. The main restaurant had the usual buffet spread but taste and variety were far from good. In fact the coffee was the worst I have ever had, followed closely by the horrible tea. Painful considering the nearest town is 25km away.

the last 10 km stretch is actually being relaid and should be in decent shape by June, which should greatly help the transit times. We took an hour to get here from Lonavala. Hospitality was very nice and no complaints on that front

Room Tip: The higher floors have the best views. Get the ones closest to the restaurants, so you avoid the lon...

We (myself, my wife and daughter) really needed this break and it was really a right decision to choose Club Mahindra Tungi. We left by our tiny Spark on Sunday 11th May 2014, took a night break at our Matheran's Manibai Jugmohandas Sanatorium. We left on the 12th morning for Lonavala from Dasturi Naka (Parking for Matheran) at around 10:45 am and reached Lonavala at around 12 noon. We then took lunch as the NH4 Food court. We left the food court at around 1:00 pm for the resort which is around 25 kms from Lonavala and we passed through Bushi Dam, INS Shivaji, The Air Force Station, etc..and finally reached the start of the really bumpy ride (9.9 kms from Club Mahindra Tungi) at around 1:30 pm This stretch is exactly contrast to the earlier 15 kms (INS Shivaji Stretch), which was a great serpentine but a very smooth ride. We actually digested the lunch en-route and reached the resort at 2:10 pm. The last 40 minute drive was really tiring. But once there, we just forgot that we were tired. Th view from the reception, the deck, took away our senses. With constant cool breeze, ample hospitality of the resort staff and all the facilities require to unwind, we were happy to be there. We were allotted a 1 BR unit (unit no 2010) for the 1st two nights and were dropped to our room in the "Jiyo Life Express" a 20 seater road train, which runs throughout the resort, all through the day for us to go wherever we wish to, as the resort is sprawled across 45 acres. The Room had a living room with a sofa+bed with an attached balcony (sit-out) overlooking the lake, which was not visible and a dry kitchenette, with a microwave and a under counter refrigerator. The living room had an LCD TV with a DVD player. A bedroom with a king sized bed and attached bathroom (Opening in both the rooms). A well decorated 1BR unit. We enjoyed the 1st two nights there. We hired the bicycles and pedaled through the resort almost everyday.
On 14th we were shifted to a nicely done up Hotel Unit (Unit no 3131) on the 1st floor, with a King Size Bed, a study, a Sofa Unit, a LCD TV with DVD Player and a huge bathroom with a shower cubicle having both hand/overhead shower on one wall and 4 body shower jets on the opposite wall. A great way to relax. This room too had an attached balcony (sit-out) and what a view!. The great Lake Pavna.

The other holiday activities like the 3 pools (the infinity pool being the best and we 3 enjoyed it independently for 2 hours on the 15th afternoon as it was under maintenance for the earlier 2 days) It was like we had booked it for us as there was no one else.
The game zone, adventure activities like Tung Fort trek, Jungle Trek & Lake Trek etc we did not go for but I did the Valley Crossing.
Resort has 2 restaurants (Ripples, which is multi cuisine & Amara, a Chef's Speciality). The food (buffet) was as usual, good and we really enjoyed it, right from the appetizer to the dessert. (we had heard that its not as good). Even the breakfast spread was excellent, except the Tea, which was cold and when reordered, was dudh-kam instead of pani-kam. (I wish to add that they need to have more variety)
Overall, though the resort is quite inconvenient to reach, the staff was at its best to serve us. The hospitality was as up to the mark, in some cases better than expected. We wish we could have spent a few more days there...relaxing. Getting back to work on 16th was getting on our nerves.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent but the ones on the 1st floor offer excellent views of the pavna lake and th...

One of the best resorts location wise. Being near the popular Aamby Valley and at the foothills of Tungi fort overseeing the Pavna Lake this property couldnt have had a better location. To reach the property takes 26 kilometers from the nearest settlement i.e. Lonavala and about 128kms from Mumbai. The last set of 10 kms from the Aamby Valley road to Club Mahindra is a ride you should be careful as the road is bad. Resort is huge so the distance of traveling back to CM civilzation is a good walk or a grunt if you hate walking. Waiting for a ride is a pain sometimes although there is a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes.
Resort is clean, desires to be landscaped well. Its upcoming so granted the arrangements werent complete. The play portion, swimming pools, spa, gym are the best in class.
Probably the best thing the resort could have provided. As for the restaurant, its a waste of money for any Non-Veg Lover, Variety is a big let down and so is the quality of the non-vegetarian cuisine. Would go again only if the food is improved.

Room Tip: All good units are far off. If you are less in number opt for a Hotel unit which is close to the Swi...

I visited this resort for a day as i was in Lonavala but when we reached we were all very tired as it is very inconvenient to get there. The road is good but in the end of the journey it is not good. The resort is amazing as all the other resorts of club mahindra. The food was also good but all they need to have at this resort is more variety of food.

It was pretty decent of the management to reveal that the last few stretches of the roads were battered and pathetic. But once you reach the gates you enter a property like never before by club mahindra. The infinity pool was under maintenance during our stay. But enjoyed a lot at the other pool. The restaurant was the highlight of the resort. The dishes were sumptuous and had variety.overall the best of club mahindra can be experienced by a toy train.it was a well planned resort.this was the best among all CM resorts.

The resort is at a far flung location and the approach road is pathetic. Once inside, you really can't go out anywhere else.
Overall, the staff and service is definitely not up to the mark. At times, I would say even discourteous. I had given this feedback on the 1st day. This needs to drastically improve. there was problem with geyser on 1st day which took long to resolve. Thanks to Mr Das' attention that it finally got fixed.

Food and restaurant are outstanding. Quality and spread of buffet is too good, very wide choice of desserts. Quite expensive though.

Games room was very good with good offers for the kids to play whole day - thanks to Mr Abhijit!!
Nice activities are arranged for guests in the evening with carnival, music etc.

There is a periodic train to take people between places. This is very handy and a fascinating experience.
Excellent rooms, even the studio ones were very spacious. Nice view of lake from the room, and an excellent view of lake from reception.

Room Tip: Try for rooms nearer the reception.

Hats off to Club Mahindra's location finder team. I once read," Which are the three most important things for a Hotel to be successful ? - The answer was,"Location, location and location". If this is true, I feel Club Mahindra's location finder team has done a fantastic job. The towering Tungi fort to the west, the Pawna backwaters and the Tikona fort to the east....breathtaking views....just being there is enough.
Being the closest Club Mahindra resort from Pune and Mumbai, the place is always full. As it has only been soft launched one can book only a month in advance and only through the Club Mahindra call centre.
The property is huge and still in its infancy so we missed the dense foliage which we usually find at CM resorts. I did observe that some tree plantation is being done so hopefully 4-5 years down line we can expect some shade when we move around the place.
The infinity swimming pool was the place where we soaked in the mornings and evenings. It would be nice if we could have a barbecue by the poolside the next time we visit.
Club Mahindra has made a very good effort to connect the restaurant to its various buildings with a toy train but it would be nice if bicycles could be provided to the youngsters who do not like to wait for the toy train.
The dining experience was wonderful as always but it would be nice if the restaurant were air conditioned. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The room service is awesome but it would be nice if the staff were given battery operated scooters instead of having to cycle up and down in the hot Sun.
The Svastha Spa has been designed artistically, a quiet walk around the spa also has a rejuvenating effect.
To sum it up - It was a wonderful experience amidst the Lonavala hills and I will surely be back to enjoy the beauty of this place when it is raining.

Room Tip: Book hotel units if possible as they are located closer to the restaurant and swimming pool.
