“Experience a real Hill Station close to Mumbai”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

This was the first Club Mahindra property that we visited. I visited this property with my wife and 2 children age 6 and 3 years respectively. The property is very well located in the hills and gives one a real feeling of being in a hill station which is so close to Mumbai. It is very scenic and there is a lot to do. The actvity centre has a lot of activities for all ages, kids and adults. The property apparently is only a year old, however there are some issues which need to be addressed such as there are some cracks in the walls in the rooms etc. The buffet is excellent and there is a lot of variety.
THe staff is extremely friendly and make one feel really special. THey have 3 swimming pools, out of which one is a kid pool and one is an infinity pool over looking the lake. Only wish one of the pools was an indoor or a heated pool so that the kids could enjoy it. We were there last week of September and the water was very cold as it was still raining.
Cycles are avialble on hire and there is a lovely spa and gym which makes the resort complete.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and highly recommend it. THe one negative point is that the road leading to the resort which is about 10 kms in total is in pathetic condition to say the least. ITs bad for the back and for the car and it takes one easily about 45 mins to cover this 10kms of road.

Room Tip: We had the one bedroom apartment.

For Mumbaikar’s there aren’t many options to select from for a weekend getaway. Or even if one wants to take a break from the Hustling and Bustling of the city one does not have too many options, other than the most obvious one being Lonavala!

Here comes in the Club Mahindra Lake Pavna, nestled on a vast 48 acre property (approx), having a total of 160 rooms plus; (of which currently only 80 are functioning), and presently having two operational restaurants.

Please keep in mind that the property is not in Lonvala per se, its on route as the same road as Amby Valley is on, and then breaks away in to inner village road and deep inside a tiring 10-12kms stretch.

The reason I mention tiring, is because the 10-12 km stretch is the most horrendous patch of roadway to test the suspensions of your car, and your excitement.

Now the about the property, its expansive and very very nice. And certain portions that overlook the lake Pavna are just amazing!

The rooms are spacious well done up and as the property is fairly new so of course they are maintained. The Bathroom is Big and is nice. As the property is spread out so the rooms are a fair walk from the reception, dining, spa and recreational areas.

The property has two restaurants; one is a ala carte / buffet restaurant serving multi cuisine food which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then there is a specialty cuisine restaurant called Amara that currently serves Mexican food. The food at the Buffet restaurant is good and the chefs and the serving staff are very good.

The Specialty restaurant Amara, however needs definite improvement, that said in Lonvala this is a good bet!

The recreational or fun area for kids is good with quite a few options and they run a daily program in the evenings for everyone in the family (from small to big) to enjoy.

The Spa- nothing much to mention here, and not too exciting either, having done a few therapies from the menu namely a full massage and then a leg and shoulder, I would say its worth every penny to have a foot massage done whilst overlooking the Lake and mountains, (that too if you manage to stay awake)

The Staff are extremely helpful and attentive and smiling, which is a plus point in the hospitality industry.

Overall a decent holiday with the family and worth the tiring drive (mind you if you are going to be there for at least 3 days).

Room Tip: choose a room on the first floor so as to have an un-obstructive view of the Lake

The way to the resort, may leave one with a bitter taste, but once inside it made for one of the most relaxing and calm vacations i have ever had! Situated between Mumbai and Pune, this property offers the perfect chance to have some quite time away. The lake facing view of the reception patio, is simply divine.
once you get over the sheer beauty of the place, there is so much more. A great entertainment team keeps guests occupied through various events. all the employees of this property deserve a special mention because of their excellent service. Small personal touches like playing carroms with the guests or a surprise complementary dessert at the great restraunt, go a long wa in making guests feel welcome and well taken care of! :)
I highly recommend this property to all everyone in need of a good break!

Its very closeby from Mumbai and pune thus very ideal for week ends and short holidays. its spread in very big area, having lake view from most of the rooms. its been surrounded by green lush nature. Food, spa and recreational activities are at best, making this resort a perfect place for family holidays

Room Tip: Lake view Bed Rooms are best

The biggest advantage and dis-advantage of the resort is its area. The resort has been built on a huge chunk of land. The block/building are pretty far from each other giving a lot of privacy and unhindered pollution free breeze.

The disadvantage of having the resort in such a huge area is that in case you stay far away from the restaurant/activity center etc, going there will be a big problem without the toy train. The toy train moves around every 30 min. Usually, it come about 10-15 min late. In case u want to go anywhere, you have to sit at the entrance as there is no indication as to when the train will arrive. There are times when u are in the room waiting for the train and it leaves.

The last 10 km as everyone complains take you around 35 min to cover. Do plan taking this time into consideration. Coming back to the resort after dark is a little scary as u don't have many vehicles moving around.

Do take bread etc in case u don't want to go to the restaurant and for dinner, you can go for room service. For room service, it will take almost an hour or so. The food is pretty expensive which all CM members are familiar with. 3 slices of plain wheat bread cost us Rs 150/- excl tax!!

The location of the swimming pool is awesome with a view of Lake Pawna.

You will enjoy the holiday at the resort if you want to stay away from pollution and the hustle that we have in the cities. You will enjoy the resort better if you don't plan to go out of the resort often.

Room Tip: Stay put in the resort and enjoy the facilities rather than traveling outside

One word to describe this is "Excellent" Perfect Location Perfect Hospitality and Great Staff to sum up all. The location is great and far away from the hustle-bustle of Lonavala city and its commercialization. The food was great like in most of CM properties and again a bit expensive like in most of their properties. If the management could do something of the condition of the road on the last 10 KM stretch; it would be a cherry on the cake. We stayed on the first floor in a 1BR with a magnificent lake view from the Balcony. Kids had great fun in their activity zone.

Room Tip: Choose a Room having Lake View

The Tungi Lake Pavna resort is located near the western ghats town of Lonavala. At a scenic location overlooking the Pavna Lake, the property is huge, and still not fully developed. So huge, that they have a toy train (pulled by a tractor) to ferry you from your rooms to all central facilities - restaurant, swimming pool, spa, games zone...

When I went in July, at the height of monsoon, I couldn't have asked for more....cool crisp breeze, non-stop drizzle, clouds kissing you, flashes of the lake and away from the maddening crowds of Mumbai. I loved most of my stay there, except for some niggles I faced there, and were resolved by the management after some plain speak...amongst them a dead and rotting rat in the drain next to my room which took more than 24 hrs for the resort staff to remove and spray enough disinfectants under my personal supervision.

That blip apart, the staff were caring. When I told them I had forgotten to bring additional batteries for my camera, and the present lot were almost dead, they ensured that next day the same reached me after they were purchased from Lonavala, the closest habitable place, 25 Kms away. It's these little things that mean so much in such beyond-the-limits places. And providing me with a car whenever I needed it to go to the restaurant.

Since the property is large, going for 3 meals to the restaurant can be discomforting, especially when you have 80+ year old folks with you, as in my case. So I had carried enough eats for breakfast when I went to the resort, so we didn't have to dress up and go for breakfast every day. On other days we ordered in through the room service.

I stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment, and it was very very comfortable. Large, with all necessary comforts, a small sit out, hugely comfortable bed, dry kitchenette, crockery/cutlery for 4, adequate tea and coffee sachets, cleaning material and microwave - you have the necessary stuff at hand to have your comforts, privacy and rest.

Loved this resort and wish to return again to it.

Hope they soon complete the balance 100 plus units and make the resort fully operational - in its current dispensation, a member can visit the facility only once a year :((

Room Tip: Try for getting a room overlooking the scenic lake...book well in advance!!
