This was the first Club Mahindra property I stayed at. Getting there was quite a task, as the resort is located 10 km off the main road - that's a long bumpy ride which could get worse during monsoon. If you think you could deal with it, you are in for a beautiful holiday.
The service at the reception was good..but we (family with kids) were more interested in the wooden loft overlooking the vast lake..simply stunning. We then moved into the dining area and had the lunch buffet, in short, it offered good variety and the food was above average. The evening high tea snacks were disappointing.
We waited for quite some time for our 'trailer' to arrive to take us to our rooms because that's how far the rooms are. If you were to walk, it would take a good 10-12 mins. We took rooms in the "White Throated Kingfisher" wing. Each room had a kitchenette (equipped with basic cutlery and a microwave, no induction or gas) a big hall with a sofa-cum-bed (good for 2 kids or one adult), a master bedroom and a nice clean bathroom. Overall, the rooms were clean, comfortable and looked semi-luxurious. We slept very well.
Because the resort is difficult to access or get out of, we decided not to visit the Lonavala marketplace in the evening. Luckily there is a lot you could do within the resort - carrom, air hockey, volleyball, jacuzzi and swimming. I was most excited to go cycling across the vast resort, unfortunately, most of their cycles were "under maintenance". While the pool adjoining the jacuzzi was sparking clean, the infinity pool was slightly darkish and dirty.. but we took it for a river and swam in it anyway!
All in all, its a good experience, especially for families with kids.
Tip - Carry instant soups and maggi for snacking, and bottled water (though they said the tap water is potable).

As soon as we arrived at the resort, the front office staff made our check in quick and fast and we were in our room pretty quick.

This was my 2nd visit to the resort and was very excited to go back again, I think this is the best Club Mahindra Resort till date, I really loved the location as well as the architecture of lobby, location of swimming Pool, view from Restaurant and rooms with excellent view.
Train transport from room to the restaurant is really fun and well made activity centre offers cycling and lots of indoor games and activity.

Food needs improvement and needs to catch up with other club mahindra resorts in quality and taste. You can clearly make out that lot of effort has gone in the making of this resort.
Overall we really loved our stay at the resort.

Getting there
A swift, smooth drive from Pune, zipping up gradual incline leading to the last mile ‘Heritage Road’ stretch of about 10 kms. Most folks in fancy cars racing in, may get irritated, stumbling undeclared, into this narrow stretch, that time has left untouched. But actually its the perfect mood setter for what lies ahead. The rough road is historic, it demands cars be driven at nothing more than 10 kms/hr. (Lest the car become history!). It’s a subtle horse cart ride feeling as one slowly zig zags past the potholed legacy of the great Maratha King Shivaji’s Tungi Fort.
Tung (Tough), was originally called Kathingad
(‘Kathin’ is difficult in Marathi) & the local Gram Panchayat has painstakingly used every penny of public funds to preserve potholes, toiling in the heat, artistically sprinkling droplets of molten tar & gravel! Zip thru in a SUV but you’ll miss getting into the groove of getting ‘Busy Doing N.O.T.H.I.N.G’

Arrival
“Busy Doing N.O.T.H.I.N.G!” that’s all we did for 3 days & 2 nights @ Tungi Resort. Footloose!
The serenely spacious, cool lobby, with a breathtakingly beautiful view of vast land & lake, staffed by charming smiles, saw us sail thru check-in, into a cozy corner of the sprawling 50 acre resort.

Accommodation
Absolutely world class comfort, with carefully provided accessories, realized we should’ve carried nothing more than clothes & some cash. Fresh fruits, a dry kitchenette, equipped with Microwave, Toaster, Sandwich maker, Electric Kettle for tea/coffee & essential cutlery.
Rustic furniture blended with classic amenities, uninterrupted power & water supply, supplemented by swift sensible room service set the mood.
Cable TV but thankfully no internet & a tad telecom network ensured we were really cut off from the clutter of emails & calls that clog life - daily! The landscaping is nice, a blend of the wild & wonderful, paved pathways with short cuts ensures no time is lost traversing the vast resort. Transport is ubiquitous or always just a call away :)
Despite summer it was cool with cloud cover & crisp clean air making it a delight to walk around. Nowhere to go, Nothing to do, soaks one’s Self with Solitude & the mind with Bliss!

Service melted our heart, food filled our belly.
Do Nothing means No Thinking, simply Indulge!
Food was fantastic, delightfully different from the usual stuff most 5 Star Restaurants routinely serve. Everyone loved the food, 3 generations gorged like there was no tomorrow.
(Do Nothing = No Diet :)

Summary
As if all this & more wasn’t enough.
The view is simply spectacular!
The vast expanse of sky crowning, the endless stretch of land & hills, laced with a lake, captivates Being! Something is truly mysterious & magical about Tungi, it’s really Tough to do anything but Nothing. Sure the kids enjoyed the horse ride, Trampoline, the Play Zone, Butterflies, Badminton et al, but in the grand scheme of things, we never imagined that a weekend could be soooooooo wonderful! We surely had the time of our life & we never ever felt so special before. Holiday’s we’ve had many, but this subtle weekend experience will stay tall withstanding the tide of time, like the Tungi Fort.

Ashtamudi was awesome, Tungi was aspirational.

Room Tip: All rooms are great but lake facing ones have a better view.

I visited this property over the weekend in May. The property is located 50 kms from Lonavala, but the entry road is really in bad shape. The only way to reach this property is by road so getting your car in tip top shape would be really advisable. Further the road is single lane, miss it & there will be hell to pay.

The property itself is spread over a huge acreage & every room is part of a swiss chateau. The rooms are extremely spacious & have a wonderful view of the dam. I would suggest to take the single room. The duplex have only one bathroom & isnt really spacious unless you want a microwave.

The infinity pool has the best view of the property & I think is the best part of the resort. Apart from this pool, there are cycling, badminton, carrom, foosball, air hockey, etc but it was extremely hot when i visited, so didn't get involved too much.

Food there is only one restaurant which serves a buffet / a la carte. Buffet has a fixed number of items & only 3-4 items changes on a daily basis, so mostly you have the same cuisine everyday. This is definitely a let down.

The not so happening part about the resort is the mosquitoes. We had to use 2 all out to just keep most out. The resort has some personal mosquito squatters who come with those electric rackets & kill these creatures. Another is the staff, I had a problem with them while check-out. I waited 20 mins for the guy to come to pick my luggage & even after that he didn't come. You can't give your feedback as there is no mechanism. Also the restaurant staff is really slow, so even for a simple glass of water you need to request them at least twice.

Room Tip: Take a single room

The Tungi resort is a great getaway from the concrete jungle of Mumbai and catapults you to the scenic beauty of nature. Club Mahindra Tungi resort is a beautiful sprawling propery situated amidst the calming presence of Lake Pavna. The gates to the resort unravel an expanse of 40 acres of unblemished nature punctuated by hotel units and wild greenery. While the property can do with a touch of landscaping to enhance the beauty, kudos to the extremely hospitable and friendly staff who make the stay extremely comfortable.

The rooms overlooking the lake have a beautiful view and transcends you to the lap of nature. It makes you wonder whether you are actually close to Mumbai.

The access to the resort needs sprucing up and the last 10 kms of road seriously needs road paving. The resort can certainly do some work around solar energy, growing organic vegetables, and water through water harvesting.

We had a rough travel to the Resort, with our car skidding off the road and falling into a ditch, but the Tungi Resort Manager helped us immensely in getting to the resort as well as helping us back home in the absence of our car. Certainly set an example for others to emulate. Way to go Tungi!!!!

Room Tip: Lake facing view

This was the second time we were vacationing in Club Mahindra Lake Pavana, Tungi (Lonavala). Since it is very close to Pune, it's an ideal choice for a short vacation. We were there for 3 nights this time.
Travel - The last six kilometers of the road leading to resort is in pretty bad shape and almost a gravel road. Also, it is a narrow road just enough to make one vehicle pass at a time. I am sure various government  entities are involved in maintaining the road but it needs an urgent repairs. We should have an option of adopting a road in India. Nonetheless, since the travel time was less and passes through thick forest, we hardly realized the intensity of it.

The resort - the resort is spread over 45 acres and has some breathtaking views of Pavana dam backwater, Sahyadri ranges, Tung and Tikona forts. About 45 rooms are operational right for members now with most of them one bedroom and 8 studios. About 40 other rooms are hotel units. There are about 70 other rooms which are not operational right now.

Food - The resort has restaurant by name of Ripples and a conveniece shop. There is no room service but gourmet express menu which gets delivered at 12.5% additional service charges. Ripples has a nice buffet menu. There is fun dining (3 meals a day and 2 meals a day ) at discounted prices. The buffet has usual suspects with variety across cuisines. The restaurant open in a nice deck overlooking Pavana lake. Coming to convenience store, it has very minimal things like Maggy and biscuits. So it would be good to get your supplies from Lonavala when you check in. There is small Tungai provision store about 1 km from gate which can give you some basic things. However, if you ask them to arrange something for you, they do it at 12 hour notice.

Activities - The three swimming pools including water slide and jacuzzi are good enough to keep the kids engaged for all the time. The main pool is overlooking Pavana lake and has some breathtaking views. The fun zone has cycles on rent which you can take across the resort, pool table , table tennis table , cricket set, carrom, badminton, chess and host of the other board games. If the kids feel withdrawal symptom for screen based games, there is Wii and Xbox also. The fun zone offers Tatoo, pot painting, Warli painting classes. There is table football and air hockey table also but air hockey was not operational when we visited. The fun zone arranges various treks and nature walks. There is a toddler room also. All in all, all these activities are good enough to keep you busy and there is hardly any need to step out. Lastly, there is Spa to pamper your senses if you want to unwind.

The staff - Very courteous and polite. Always ready to help with a smile. It was a pleasure to interact with them.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this with eyes closed.

Room Tip: Choose rooms facing Pavana lake, you can typically ask for rooms on first floor. Rooms closer to hot...

Out to please you from the minute to initiate your reservation query. Prompt reverts to all queries. Drive was pleasant, yes the last 10 KM has some challanges but one can enjoy the slow journey by experiencing the rural sights, a positive.
Reach the resort and its no less than an Oasis. Smiles and willingness to please is visible through every interaction. My wife took a massage at the SPA and was impressed. Kids loved the pool and the recreation centre.
Rooms are functional, very clean and amenities are good. Food and beverage is good.
A special thank you to Sujoy, Ritesh and the GM Mr. Kirpal Negi. We stayed there for 1 day but returned all refreshed and charged up.
