The staff at this resort were fantastic. They anticipated what we wanted with amazing accuracy. The cottages are very cute & clean. I loved the outdoor shower. Well worth the money!!!

We enjoyed this resort as part of a break from the craziness that is India. We had returned for a wedding reception in my parents' hometown, but ducked out to Kerala for a mini-honeymoon and chose Palm Grove Resort.

We loved it.

It was exactly what we needed to unwind, relax and feel completely at ease after feeling tired, rundown and exhausted with the hustle and bustle of big cities and traveling in India. We drank chai, lassis, ate fresh fish, laid in hammocks, took walks and luxuriated in the wonder of an outdoor shower.

Who I would NOT recommend this place to:
--Travelers looking to jump from place to place sightseeing. While it is possible, I think the true worth of the resort lies in sticking around and lazing about the area. We did take walks and went into town at least once, but I would not recommend it for going in and out of Alleppy, as this is on a road out of town and then too at the end of a winding side road.

Who I would recommend this place to:
--Travelers looking to unwind and appreciate Kerala at its own pace.We took walks to the beach and a fisherman's wharf and around winding roads where people live.
--Travelers looking for a homey stay. We enjoyed our relationship with Suresh--he is quite amazing, a one-man machine! He did everything and he did it well, as well as being kind and interesting to talk to.
--Spa vacationers. The resort has a relationship with Krishna Ayuervedic and will arrange for treatments as well as transportation to the place. We liked our oil massages so much we went back the next day for other services.

the hotel looks beautiful from outside but is just the opposite from inside. the rooms are small and shabby and few things work inside....AC was not working, no hot water.

the food is very expensive and not worth its price. please dont get carried away with the look of the place, check out the room before you decide to stay there.

by the way breakfast was good.

The experience was nothing good nothing bad. The rooms were basic and the facilities inside the bathroom were minimal. Food was homely and good. We had few problems which were never addressed. But overall I would consider a decent stay.

A short tuk tuk ride from town, this quiet resort is situated directly on the main canal which leads out to the lake. From the privacy of your cottage, you can watch the barges and canoes gliding to and fro. We rented a longboat for the day, who picked us up a few steps from our front door. The resort restaurant is simple and perfectly adequate. Our bedroom was simple but had AC, and the western style bathroom included an open air shower which I loved!

We really enjoyed our stay with Biji and his wife Murcia (hope I spelt this right). We were made to feel more than welcome. The little hut like bungalows are simple but picturesque with outside chairs to enjoy the warm evenings (beware of the mosquitos though!). There were several hammocks in the garden, which was great for relaxing. Murcia organised a boat trip for us in a small two seater boat through the backwaters (£10 for the whole day), which was a great experience. Murcia is a very cheerfull lady and a brilliant chef! She serves dinner in the family home kitchen if you wish, this is also were breakfast is served. Homestays in Kerala are run similar to B&B's in Britain. Do not expect luxury in respect of furniture or bathroom, but appreciate luxury in the quiet setting a short riksha ride (£1) away from the busy centre of Allepey in the palmfringed gardens surrounded by the backwaters. The palmy lake resort is not located at a beach, however, Maradi beach, which is a 15min riksha ride away is the most scenic beach you can imagine with hardly anybody there but friendly local kids! A warm thank you to Biji and Murcia again for making our stay most enjoyable.

Actually not quite what it says to be.. Though the location by the beach is great, compared to most places in Alappuzah, the rooms, bed linen and towels are pretty dirty.... Service is more than basics. But more than anything else, it seems that the place has been turned into a carehouse for old pensioners and sick people. So you might have to face the rattling of throats all night long....and/or people talking loudly by the door of your room as early as 6 a.m.... Expect the bungalows to be quieter....
