A dim, dreary, dismal hotel. If you're not on antidepressants when you check in, you will be by the time you leave. The walls are paper thin, so sound travels easily. Paint is scuffed and soiled. There is no hot water, even during the brief 6-10 PM time slot when it is promised. On the good side, the rooms are larger than average, the a/c works, the grounds are spacious and pretty. The restaurant offers only a buffet -- no ala carte options. The hotel is on the fringes of town, so no other restaurants are nearby.

Last destination of my trip was Alleppey & it turned out to be a nightmare. The location is very next to a huge drain. (May be they will call it backwaters) with garbage & filth all around. Pool was dirty. The beds where in very bad shape with springs broken. The staff is worst. Not at all helpful & these people are there to make money and that’s the only aim. They should open a shop instead. I remember I used to pay Rs 50/Hr for internet usage in 1999 & Rs 10 per page printout... And then I paid the same at Pagoda... that to after paying for cottage accommodation. Staff is trained well to cheat the guests. They have no moral & respect for people. I ordered lunch & the plates were still lying outside the cottage next morning when I checked out. (I personally had to keep the dishes out after calling housekeeping several times).
At any other hotel at least they would have arranged for at least toast butter( when breakfast is inclusive) if you check out early morning. But at Pagoda you'll have to wait for the breakfast buffet to start. (even if your train leaves at 6:00 am).
Moral of the story.. Never go to this place. OR YOU’LL REGRET

We stayed in cottages which were not very clean and curtains were of very moderate quality.
The plants and vegetation are not properly groomed. The quality of food is average. But the service at restaurant is terrible.

However overall experience is not bad. Since Alleppy does not have many hotels the option to stay here may be thought of.

Apart from the outer architecture there was nothing good that i can speak about this resort. Pagoda Resorts advertises themselves as Synonym for Hospitality, but in reality they are far away from Hospitality in each and every segment of Service industry. Every staff member I met in this hotel will need a million years to know what HOSPITALITY is all about!

Let me put my experience in a few points -

1) The architecture of the hotel looked quit grand and the tariff was also at par with at least any 3 star hotels, so they were not cheaper or even economical. They are also located within 1 km from the main Allappy Market & Backwaters. So only 2 positive points and this might be reasons for many to choose this hotel. But unfortunately they are the only 2 positive points about this resort. And if you have your own car/private taxi location hardly matters on a holiday.

2) No Security arrangement at the entrance or anywhere else in the hotel. In the name of security there were only 3 fat & lazy looking men near the gat wearing some dark colour uniform and they had no proper badge of security equipments.

3) I had done my booking 2 weeks in advance and also called them couple of hours prior to reaching the resort but upon reaching they made me wait for 2 hours for my room without communication as how soon will they could get my room ready. Their check out time is 12pm and i reached there with my family at 1.30pm for Check in. I was not the only one there were 2-4 more tired guests (families) were already waiting at the reception for checking in.

4) The reception staff 2 men and a 1 lady were the most unlikely characters for any hotels reception at least. They were looking like some clerks of any old fashioned office, who did know the basics of welcoming any guest. On top of that they barely understood English. They were simply hopeless & the most unfriendly reception staff i have ever come across!

5) Now the rooms – they are big & spacious (Delux Rooms) but not neat. Floor was sticky. Bathtub was really dirty, to separate shower apart from the one with tub; lighting in rooms was not sufficient, quite dull; furniture was old and even broken and switches were so confusing. There was a mini fridge but that was really dirty and God knows since when the Cans & bottles were stored in them without being replaced.

6) No propper hotwater arrangement. It takes 1 hour to fill a small bucket with hot water. Hotwater supply was not even round the clock. Like any 3rd class lodge it was available between 6am to 10 am & 6 pm to 10 pm.

7) There was a so called travel desk but the guy there was more interests in making money by hook or by crook then helping or guiding any guest about the places to visit in Allappy. Hopeless again.

8) At Restaurant foot was good, but the staff was no better than un skilled labour. Not even one person knew any other language properly apart from malayalam. Which is a shame of such an hotel!

9) Even though there was a delay from the hotel staff at the time of checking in they were more than punctual at the time of Checking out. They called at least 4 times between 11.30 am- 12.30 pm to remind that we need to check out. And they were as rude as they could over phone.

Entire Staff needs training on hospitality service, language, etiquettes, grooming & they seriously need to learn how to be presentable.
Overall it was very unpleasant experience to be at a hotel that had a promising outer look. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone until you have no- other better option available.

The hotel is very big and well-maintained. Location is close to the city and the market.

I took a cottage which was very very big and spacious. The bathroom was also very big and had a king size bath tub. Rooms were also clean but the fridge in the room looked dirty and I did not feel like opening the beer kept in it even after a very tiring day.

The view was not anything special but you there is swimming pool nearby and neatly manicured gardens which had swings as well. Perfect for a lazy stroll after dinner. Even late in the night you feel absolutely safe in the gardens or anywhere within there campus.

Food was costly keeping in mind that they charge slighty on the upper side and whatever you opt, it is not tasty to the north-indian palate. The morning breakfast(buffet) had a lot of items but it was very crowded and food was also cold.
I did managed to get a hot bowl of sambhar though, on complaining.

I had some problem on arrival at the hotel. Some communication lag between Yatra.com and the hotel. The hotel claimed that they did not have any information of aour arrival and yatra.com has not informed them.

Overall it is a good place to stay even if it is a little costly.

Though its a good hotel in terms of its abience, management is too rude.
We had booked a honeymoon package, but were stranded for an hour in the reception over booking issues. they were not ready to accommodate us. Later on they admitted their fault and upgraded us to another class. They were sick people having no value for our time, shouting at each other like dogs.
Leave this place for them alone, dare not come here mark my words.
