I stayed in Arcadia Regency Hotel Alleppey Kerala/Alappuzha for 3 days with my family members while returning to Chennai from Kodai in May 2014. The only advantage of the hotel is that it is situated in the heart of the city, Alllepey, Kerala state. It was peak summer and while entering the main entrance of the hotel we found no relief from the heat in the reception area in spite of A/C being in use. The reception area is big but guests were unable to use it in the absence of sufficient A/C and fan. The room first shown was good but the A/C was not working. The mechanic was called in but he failed to rectify the problem. Latter I was taken to another room where the A/C was working but the room was smelling unpleasant and also very stuffy as, it appeared, kept closed for a longer period. More over I found deficiency in room up keeping with regards to amenities like side board table , room curtain and the bath room sliding door. The panel switch board with sockets in the side table comes out the moment you pluck in your charger. The sliding door in the bath room comes out from railing with the result the door could not be closed fully. Toilet has no ventilation fan and hence it always giving disgusting odour. The window curtain it appears to be the safe haven for flies and creepy-crawly. I had to get rid of everything with insects spray and room fresheners with the help of room service staff. We were unable to blame the staff. it is all because of unprofessional conduct of the higher authorities. They provide complementary break -fast to the guest and overall it was good with range of tasty food items. The hotel promises a fine-looking pool and free wifi. Regrettably ,upon checking, we learned that the pool closes at 1pm. The reason given most of the time is that they allow people to hold late night party which makes it difficult to use the pool at all. We found the water unclean & the floor bottom full of black stain. Under this condition we felt unwise to go for a swim which certainly would have caused a serious threat to our health. The hotel is also not having sufficient parking space for cars. since the hotel is on the road side , the space available along the road is limited and not possible because of heavy traffic all the time. While vacating the hotel, I gave a generous advice to the staff I met the pressing necessity for up keeping of the hotel standard high as otherwise they stand to lose business in spite of being located in the best location where the hotel business is enormous.

Room Tip: .Nothing special to say about any room

We were looking for a place in the city side so that we could walk out and explore on our own. The driver of a cab we were traveling in recommended the place and due to paucity of time we decided to try it out. The hotel is situated right at the heart of the city, which is the biggest and probably only plus point. The rates charged are the same as that charged by any high end resort away from the city and do not do justice to the facilities offered. The hotel is probably slightly old and the fittings in the room show it. There's not much of a view that the rooms can boast of and our window overlooked a construction site. The hotel has a bar located in the basement and towards late evening the hotel is surrounded by people looking to gain entry into the bar. The hotel has a swimming pool which I haven't seen, so don't have much to say on that. The food was decent and we had to settle for chicken since they were out of most sea food. Free wifi is offered to customers but only in a little portion near the lobby. All in all an average stay.

I stayed only one night in this hotel and I was terribly disappointed. As temperatures sore in India in May, my boyfriend had been looking forward to this nice hotel with, as the pictures promised, a beautiful pool in which we could relax and cool down. As it turned out the pool looked rather dirty and nothing like the pictures online, and worst of all -for reasons we never really understood, the pool closed at 1pm! There were no sunbeds and cigarette buds littered the floor. Not a nice place to hang out - even before 1 pm. Furthermore, the hotel had promised wifi on its page as well - but that was available only in the reception, which is not acceptable for a hotel in this price range. I cannot recommend a stay here.

No value for your money

Stayed here for one night and am happy that I did not have to stay here longer.

The hotel promises a beautiful pool and free wifi, which I thought would justify the premium price compared with an average home stay. Unfortunately upon check in we learned that the pool closes at 1pm, which makes it difficult to use the pool at all. On top the pool area was so old, dirty and warm (not like the one in their photos) so even if the pool was open, I would not recommend anyone to take swim in it as it would cause a serious threat to your health.

In regards to WIFI this was only avaliable in the reception (not avaliable in any rooms), and the reception is far from a nice place to hang out and surf the Internet.

In general the hallways are quite dirty, the rooms are out of date and the bathrooms quite moist. All factors contributing to this hotel NOT being a 3 star hotel or even close.
