Being a loner, I have problems finding a comfortable and safe stay while visiting tourist destinations. Especially being a woman traveling alone in Kerala. A good and comfortable stay ease out the entire tour program and make it a memorable one...

While planning to visit Alleppy (Alappuzha- in a local lingo) during April 2014 I faced the same problem. My search ended soon I chanced upon "Colonels Villa" in Tripadvisor, Since it was associated with Army, I felt a sense of safety and security.

As expected the place turned out to be an aesthetically furnished modern Villa which is conveniently located close to Railway Station, town and famed Mararai Beaches. The Colonel
- retired - his children and affable wife were perfect hosts.

I enjoyed the stay, and the hospitality and recommended for those discerning travelers, especially lone woman tourists to enjoy back waters of Alleppy.....

On reaching Alappuzha we stayed at Colonels Villa for two nights and it was awesome there. A comfortable and pleasant stay there made us feel at home. The location of the house and its easy accessibility made it an ideal choice for a quiet stay. The hospitality was the best part.

Room Tip: Main room aesthetics are better

Well, during our south india tour, we visited a number of places including alleyppee. I must admit this was one of the wonderful and comfortable stay during the entire tour. The Colonel's villa is just 500 m from the Beach and very close to Backwaters. In fact, there are a number of local sightseeing places to include Thumpoli Church, Local Market and ofcourse the Alleyppee beach in close vicinity of this Villa. The homestay was really worth for self and all family including kidz. We were really thankful to the retired Army Officer and Houselady, who looked after us with warmth and provided us with all the guidance and tips for visiting local market. The ambience and interior decoration of the house is just awesome and it gives one a feel of staying in a palace. This place is certainly worth visiting and must stay for all who wish to visit alleyppee with family and kids.

After the journey from cochin to allapi which i must say was a bit humid in after noon we travelled through the winding roads to reach the colonels villa....
It was a rather pleasant surprise as we dashed in to a warm kerallite family, serene locality and an adorable ambience....one could no but dwell upon the coosy architecture,, comfortable furniture and lip smacking food provided her....being a regular a 3 and 5 star hotels it is but a thought provoking experience to see that all that we sought at pocket guzzling hotels and much more is available at this loc at rates that are unbelievably low.....I might seem a bit emotional when I write this...but that has to do with the warmth experienced at the colonel’s villa..... Also the extra asst provided in arranging trip, good vehicles provided and the low cost actually seem to be easily forgotten because the pleasure / overwhelming feeling of being part of the family in kerala....

MUST SAY ,,,, A MUST STAY for each one of us who relishes new highs every day ....and a superlike.....kudos and keep it up to the management

Self and family took a road trip in Kerala in end Dec 2013. Christmas eve and Christmas itself found us at Allepey and we were plain lucky to come across The Colonels' Villa near Thumpoli Church. A homestay in the true sense of the world, Col Anthony and the family take it as a personal responsibility to make your stay at Allepey a memorable and a meaningful one. The home is big and comfortable and since it's a recently opened venture, the Colonel goes out of the way in seeking the visitors' feedback in further value additions.
The balcony on the first floor is a beautiful area to sit back and relax with a drink in your hand or a cup of tea, depending if its evening or dawn. Mrs Anthony is an awesome cook and both the variety and taste floored us all. Col Anthonys' mother is an ever smiling personality of pitches equally in everything from the kitchen to the general upkeep of the place. The kids bring a lot of cheer to the already cheerful surroundings.
In addition to the place proving to be a true value for money, Col Anthony offers good advice on what and how to do in Allepey. We as a family have found friends for life.

I planned my visit during the month of Jan 14, to Alappuzha, The stay at Colonel's Villa has left a lasting impression on me and my family members. The Villa is suitably located near Thumpoli Church, One can see the local culture and heritage intimately. The Villa is at a walking distance from the local beach,(just 400 mtrs) one can walk with his family to the beach and spend quality time. The rooms are asthetically designed and the ambeince of the villa is excellent with all the comforts one can think of. The place is loc just 100 mtrs away from the famous Thumpoli Church, one can take a stroll in the evening to get a insight into the rich heritage associated with the church. Colonel is a very good host and provides a homely environment. You can enjoy the rich local cuisine at the Colonels Villa which is passionately cooked and served with warmth. Its like staying at your home, with your close relative. The local sight seeing at Alappuzha is very good and the experiance of stay at house boat was amazing. It is very strongly recommended for people planning holidays with their family members and close relatives. The villa is centrally located and all the local sights are within close range. The trip which will remain very close to the heart of my family members. anupam singh
