Devotion to the Serpent Lord at its best. Lots of stone made nagas around. Silent temple with a great deity.

The poojas of MANNARSALA NAGARAJA TEMPLE under taken on ayilyam day of every month make many people fade away from the childless fainted life. We have to buy the pathra and leave it as per the instructions of the poosaries,After we get the child we have to go there and replace the vessel as per the instructions .On the BIG AYILYAM DAY OF thulam month Number of serpents visit the temple as it is the ancestral home for the serpents. Yellow Coloured serpent comes to the temple as it is the ancestral father of all the snakes .It is believed that if we believe that the shower of the snake make us fade away from the worries it happens cen %. It is a vara prasad to those who are childless couples. if we cant go for three poojas we can attend 3 ayilyam day poojas of RAAGU KETHU in local ayyappan koil and we can have final visit to manarsala temple .It is also true that serpents visit the temple on big ayilyam day on the poojas held time and it will not bite even one . please visit once in lifetime

The Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple is a great place to visit with family. It has a lot of history & is said to be linked to the formation of Kerala from the ocean. The temple is surrounded by a mini forest, has thousands of idols of serpents with the main sanctum housing two mini temples for the Sarpayakshi & Lord Nagaraja. The seva counter is big, the darshan is very quick & not very time consuming. According to tradition there are specific sevas which can be performed in this temple.

A little deviation from the NH, it is better to travel by Train to Harippad & take a Auto to the temple as the NH is not an expressway & tends to have high traffic density all the times. The temple guest house "Mandaram" has good rooms & all basic facilities including food. For more details visit http://www.mannarasala.org/.

Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple(Malayalam: മണണാറശ്ശാല ശ്രീ നാഗരാജാക്ഷേത്രം) is a very ancient and internationally known centre of pilgrimage for the devotees of serpent gods (Nagaraja). The famous Nagaraja temple "Mannarasala" is nestled in a forest glade, like most snake temples. The Mannarasala Temple has over 30,000 images of snakes along the paths and among the trees, and is the largest such temple in Kerala.

We visited this temple on our way to Aleppey. The temple is pretty big, unlike the snaps posted on line. And it is a lot busy. It has a seperate parking space for about 20+ vehicles. Left side of entrance is the seva ticket counters, and right side of entrance is a shop which has all necessary items which you can purchase of any sort of puja at temple. Other than these there are other shops which sell cloths, food etc.
The temple complex is also big, nobody is allowed to go near the nada, rather you are allowed to do the darshan from a bit of distance.
Uruli(small brass vessel)-Kamarthal/Nimarthal(turning it down/up)- This is a ritual, which is followed at this temple, after special prayer to Nagaraja. There is a story behind this. Couples who have not been blessed with a child yet, visit this temple to perform Uruli Kamarthal, and return when the child is born, to turn it up. Devotee has to purchase Uruli from shop outside after paying Rs500 for the pooja. Special prayers are performed and Uruli taken from Devotee, Kamarthal or Uruli and pooja every day is performed by Ammachi on your behalf. The total cost incl spcl dakshina to all the associated employees of the temple comes to about Rs.1000, if you are lucky, or it can be more.
If one has to gain special blessing from the Amma, one has to wait for a long time. It would be better to go early in the morning for this.
