“Excellent break, wonderful hospitality”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

We stayed two nights at Bella as a base for a Backwaters boat trip and were delighted with the warmth of the welcome and the care that was taken over all aspects of our stay. Being quite small makes this homestay a really personal experience - excellent breakfasts, good advice, spotless room, even dinner brought in if desired. The latter is a good option as it can be taken on the verandah after ordering from the menu of 'the Mushroom', shortly after which it arrives by rickshaw. The well cared for small garden adds to the pleasure of sitting outside for breakfast contemplating the day! Recommended

THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE. We've never felt more welcome in a new country before. The food is astounding and Bijou and Natasha are the best hosts in the world, greeting you with fresh smoothies after a long day in the sun, making sure you're well fed for the day. They really mean it when they say that you're a part of the family the minute you walk into the house (so much so that they even send out a christmas email to all of the guests that have stayed with them! very nice touch).

The cleanest and best dressed room we stayed in in India with hosts better than we could have imagined. Their dog Jacko is amazing and they had great food and activity recommendations as well. We can't have imagined a better environment for our stay in Alleppey and recommend this to anyone and at any time of year.

Clean, tremendous food, perfect hospitality, excellent location, beautiful landscaping, all around excellent! You can walk to the house boats from here- how perfect is that? I highly recommend staying here and will be returning myself.

We stayed 3 nights at Bella homestay and didn't want to leave! Bijou andNatasha are excellent hosts - friendly, helpful and good company. The house is in a quiet area only a short walk from busy Alleppey town. We enjoyed relaxing in the lovely, cool seating areas and recharging our batteries after a very busy week or so. We would highly recommend a visit here. Jack is an adorable little dog who is happy to chill out with you.

Beju and Natasha have the best personality's as does their cute dog jack! We had the best juice on arrival and you can have continental breakfast with banana pancakes (OMG! Amazing) or omlette or Kerella breakfast - I was indian breakfasted out by the time I got here so pancakes where my staple breakfast although I must admit the Kerela breakfast looked amazing! We were going to stay one night but stayed two and I am so happy I did.You really have to book this amazing place there is a reason they are at the top of the charts! They are full most of the time and they deserve it. Beautiful rooms and they are very respectful of their guests and make sure they dont make noise in the kitchen until after 8.30amThe bed was one of the most comfotable I stayed in in india. They also organised a canoe ride for us on the first day and then a houseboat for us for a night. (They let us leave our large case at the homestay rather than take it on the houseboat which was a bonus also) And when we came back the next day to get our case they offered us another of their amazing juices. They are such gracious hosts! I am really happy we did both the canoe ride and the houseboat as both showed us different parts of the backwaters and both were amazing. I looked into prices back home and really the best price I could get was about the same as Biju offered us and it was for a much better boat - so I am happy I waited and organised it through him. Now with the houseboat we did get the prawns - they were not cheap but they were amazing and so worth it - I actually wish I got more! The chef on the boat was amazing. Just let Biju know it was the crazy Aussie lady Michelle that suggested you go there - he might tell you the story about me and the motorbike! My daughter was trying to organise her university placement while we were travelling india and we were having so much problems using our ipad. They had no problem letting us use their laptop and also printed things off for us and sent them to her university so all was sorted quick and easy. Honestly, beautiful, people, beautiful home, great food (loved the chocolates by the bed and the fruit juices were to die for) It was 5 star service and accomodation for 2 star price! As far as eating in the evenings (they dont supply dinner) I would suggest always going to the beach area. We found the town area not great for food and wished we'd gone to the beach for the 2nd night too. We will be back. Thank you Biju and Natasha. Cant wait for you to meet my hubby! Miss you both.

Room Tip: There is an amazing room upstairs with a four poster bed if you can get it - try. We where downs sta...

We stayed 3 nights here and enjoyed the warmth of our hosts Natasha and Biju and their great breakfast cooking. We were also positively surprised to get very good local porridge here! Highly recommended :) The house is very nice and well equipped. It has a good location and the hosts were eager to help in all our enquiries.

The owner organised our trip from Cochin, Munnar, Peryar to Alapputha. We travelled by car driven by a driver and were staying in homestays and one ight on a houseboat. Everything was well organised, on time and in a great quality. We recommend their suggestions! The Bella homestay is a nice house, with lots of flowers around, a quiet neighbourhood, lovely small Jacky Dog, clean and well furnished room with AC, very good breakfast, fruitdrinks. The owners organise transfers as well. We enjoyed the conversation with both of them. It's like coming home!
