I don't think we ever saw Ayana's, based on the other reviews here. Vishal set us up in a very minimal room with a stagnant pond in front. My guess is they were overbooked, but he didn't admit to that. Honesty is always the best policy. We left without staying overnight.

Ayana's is a community based Home Stay, where in we use different houses in the village so that people get different experience with different families. I do understand that it was a mistake on our part and we Apologize for the same. We try our best to keep all our Guests happy but this time we made a mistake.
I can assure you that it would never be repeated again.

Thank You

We were scheduled to stay at Ayana's in February 2012, and had confirming emails from Vinit Nair to that effect. On the morning of our drive to Allapuzha we tried to contact Ayana's and were surprised that despite several attempts on all the 'phone numbers we could find for them, there was no response. With some difficulty and with no help from anyone at Ayana's, our driver made it to the ferry and somehow met up with Vishal (Vinit’s brother) who informed us that we would be accommodated in an nearby house with two rooms adjacent to a stagnant pool. This was a far cry from the pictures we had seen on their website, and very different from our booking which was to include one A/C room. These rooms were less than spartan. It appeared that they had only recently been completed made ready for us. Other than a table, a light and an adjacent WC, they had little else. Opening the window would have invited in a hoard of mosquitoes. Clearly there was a problem, and Ayana’s was overbooked. Instead of leveling with us, Vishal spun us a tale of Ayana’s being a community of homestays that try to provide us with an authentic experience, hence our spartan accommodations. We did not buy it, and made arrangements by phone to be evacuated and taken to another homestay. On our way to the road, Vishal informed us that our accommodations were only for one night, and the next night we were to be moved to where we had expected. Unfortunately it was too late. We did not appreciate the deception, and for this reason would not recommend Ayana’s to anyone.

Room Tip: The family home may be very nice and comfortable but we never got to see it. It was never shown to...

Just like home, except you won't get the noisy neighbours, annoying parents, noisy cars, loud music. In fact its just the opposite of the above. PEACEFUL, QUITE, and PRIVATE.

Well worth the journey from the Fort Kochi area and dare I say better than the Fort homestays.

I felt welcome from the first minute and was treated like a member of the Nair family. Food prepared by Padma Nair was gorgeoes and through discussions with Gopal Nair I learned a lot about the area and its culture. Vishal Nair (son) is a very good guide who showed me some interessting places in the backwaters. The other son, Vinit was not there. But I met him at Verkala and he is like the whole family charming and helpful.

We had a great time at Ayana's. I felt like a queen, waited on hand and foot. The rooms / bathroom were clean and the beds comfy. The food was plentiful and scrumptious. Padma and Gopal were great hosts. I really enjoyed our wander around the Island and we did some early morning yoga which was fun. Overall a worthwhile experience I would recommend to others.
