“@ Munnar”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

It was the most boring 1 hour in Kerala. The artist can do much better then what was acted. The theme was boring too. Infact, we actually left in between. The expressions were scary. Kathakali is a renowned art. It is supposedly done with grace but it surely lacked

“Enthralling dance. Can be bit exhausting if you dont understand the story behind it.”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Kerala Travel Centre had included a visit to a dance centre to see the Kathakali dance performance, during our stay in Cochin. We were very enthralled by the dance and the performers. However it can get a little long drawn if you dont understand the story behind it.

“Very different show.”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We didn't arrive for the hour of watching make up applied, I suspect we would have been very bored. Only two actors involved, and you needed an interpretation of what was happening, but it was well worth seeing.

“Great Effort”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

The show was for an hour and started with the main male artist showing how the face is painted with vegetable colours and how the traditional costume is worn. Then one of the artists briefly explained the mudras or hand gestures and then there was a demo session where the dancer showed various gestures with a voice over explaining the same. Then the main performance was explained and then performed.Though Kathakali was watched numerous times on TV , a live performance was something different and enjoyable.Must do activity.

“1 hour traditional entertainment”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

We went to Kathakali show while we were visiting Kerala for honeymoon. Kathakali is Kerala's Traditional Dance.
Name of the place in 'Punarjini' in Munnar. It was 1 hr show. First one of the main character explained some of the basic 'Mudra' in Kathakali. Then main show started. It was a show about Lord Vishnu killing Chandi, a female demon. A female demon takes a form of beautiful woman and tries to seduce Vishnu. Vishnu identifies this and slaps her. Then she shows her real ugly form in anger and fights with Vishnu, where Vishnu Kills her.

Very good entertainment for 1 hour
