We booked into this place for the first night of our Kerala holiday in November 2012. Booking was made by email and the 'hotel' were insistent that we pay the full non- refundable 10,000 rupee charge up front. Luckily for us our Internet banking was not working and banks had closed early for Divali when I went to deposit cash directly.
We arrived at OG's bungalow shortly before noon on the appointed day and were sorely disappointed. The beach setting is lovely and a local man (no English spoken, but smiley enough) unlocked the door to the room for us. There was no sign of any reception or facilities other than a room with a bed in it. The greatest disappointment though was that the room was filthy! It honestly looked as though it had not been swept for about 6 months. There were dead bugs and dust everywhere. The bathroom was also dirty and nothing was supplied - not a towel or a bar of soap.
The gentleman who had opened the door for us handed me his mobile phone and it was the manager on the line asking for his 10000 rupees. I was still in shock about the dilapidated condition of the bungalow and said I thought it overpriced at 10000 rupees per night. His only comment was that if we didn't like it we were free to leave but prices were fixed. So we did leave.
We have stayed in plenty of simple places when travelling in India and I have never come across anywhere so ridiculously over priced and misrepresented by its website. The room we were shown was the one with the green striped walls pictured on the website but it is now in a shocking state. I can only imagine that the demand for full payment in advance is because the owners/ management know that no one would see this place and still pay 10000 rupees a night. Avoid.
