“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

As we sat at the bus station in Alleppey gathering our thoughts on where to stay in the town, a young lad approached us, and, with unusually good English gave us the soft sell for his guest house. Under these circumstances you always feel that the reality will fall short of the description, but we went with him and had a nice stay in a hotel with a very easy going atmosphere.
The guest house is in an old single storey colonial building spread over two courtyards in which there are tables for dining and breakfast (not included in the room price). The location is just out of the centre, and quiet at night. The rooms themselves are a little basic, but not too hot, and provided with mosquito nets over the bed (necessary in Alleppey) and do not have hot water. Their most interesting aspect is the exceptionally elaborate old locks on the doors.
Around the courtyards there are hammocks which some of the guests choose to sleep in, or just relax during the day.
The manager was able to fix us up with a houseboat for two days at practically no notice: a little over the average price but very good facilities and cooking.
If you are looking for a hotel with all tourist amenities, then this is perhaps not the place for you, but if you are after something relaxing and interesting, you could do a lot worse than to try this.

We booked this place at short notice and opted for a heritage room. When we arrived we decided we wanted to be around the courtyard instead and they changed our rooms at the last minute. We had a lovely tea in the garden and the staff helped us book a really good houseboat for the next couple of days. We then had a lovely evening chatting with the other guests, manager and staff. They couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. The room we opted for in the end was a little basic, but we got a great night's sleep and it was so cheap. You can opt for much more luxurious rooms at not much more in terms of price.

I was pleasantly surprised by this wonderful heritage home- just beautiful! Within walking distance to the beach. The rooms are tidy, the staff friendly and laid back, and the food excellent. The staff bends over backwards to make sure you enjoy your stay. They will even book you a trip on a houseboat.

If you are in alleppey be sure not to miss this wonderful open kitchen garden restaurant. The Kerala recipes are absolutely amazing: a lot of spices and flavors with an incredible balance so that no one overwhelm the other. the fish is very fresh and the yogurt aubergines unmissable! The service also is very good and the price more than reasonable.

My girlfriend and I spent one night at Vrindavanam heritage home and we had a really good night stay. The price of the room was very reasonable as was the food served at the restaurant.

The atmosphere was very chilled out and there was plenty of hammocks to relax in. The beach was also only about a 5minute walk away. There was also free wifi at the hotel.

We also booked a houseboat cruise through the hotel and we had a great time - although it's quite expensive it is something that you have to do in Alappuzha (allepay) if you can afford it!

I have been staying for 3 days at the Vrindavanam. The stay was really nice and so are the staff, in the end i was almost sorry to leave.
Upon arriving i found myself in a valley of smiles from the very first person I met Cheppe. He explained everything I had available and gave me a cable of internet access and the password to use the service very quickly.
Entering the room, it was clean and quiet (couldn't hear a noise). The bathroom is also spacious and very clean. The shower seems to be bigger than my house.
The bed was one thing that if I could take him home, I would have done. Hard in the right places and comfortable....
Very rich and tasty breakfast, I love scrambled eggs, and I found the best around. Traditional Lunch also was fantastic. With each dinner I became more spoiled.
You can pretty much stay in the room all day without getting bored, unfortunately I was there only for 3 days.
But my warmest congratulations to this place for their choice of personnel. They know how to really make you feel at home, and if you need anything it is like asking a family member. Congratulations from the heart, you were fantastic.Loves to be there again......Vi ses
