The Pamba Heritage Villa
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 31, 2008

The stay at Pamba heritage reminds me of my childhood days where I used to visit my traditional home at my native.

But this is a heritage villa with all facilities. We stayed for a day before going through the House Boat journey. This villa is on the banks of Pamba river. Has all facilities and one can enjoy the stay for a proper relaxation. The adjacent village is very nice and the villagers also cordial. But the Pamba river is not meant for taking bath or swimming.

The villa is managed professionally, by cordial family members. The food offered is very delicious and you can have the true and authenticated Kerala meal. The room is neat and clean and has a fine mosquito net. The special attraction of this room is the attached open-sky bath room with a shower.

Kids and elders both can enjoy the stay together.

Those who are planning for a House boat cruising at Nedumudi – can plan for a day’s stay here. The Villa can provide Ayurveda massage service on a request basis.

Thanks to Pamba Heritage Villa family for providing such a wonderful stay though it is very short one.

We stayed in this guesthouse in December 2006, the night before we went on a rice boat backwater cruise on the Pamba River. The Pamba Heritage is right on the bank of the Pamba in a stunning location with paddy fields behind. It is a small guesthouse with only 3 chalet style rooms and you eat in the main house at a family dining room. The rooms have an old style charm but the big surprise is the “outside” bathroom! This is ensuite to the room, with walls but open to the sky, with a shower draining on to a soakaway filled with rocks (see uploaded photos). An interesting if not exactly luxurious experience! This place has bags of charm and the setting is lovely. However, there is one big downside and this is the amount of insect life that invades every part of this guesthouse. Swarms of mosquitoes descend from the paddy fields at night and you share your room with ants, spiders and all manner of bugs. There is a mosquito net but in our room it was old and a tad mouldy. The insects obviously don’t bother the locals, and if they don’t bother you, and you are an adventurous type, then this guesthouse definitely has enough charm to make your stay worthwhile! However, if you are looking for a little more comfort and a few less bugs, you should look elsewhere for your stay.
