Lemontree Allepey is located in a serene and quiet location yet everything you need is just a call away. The rooms are lovely and the view of the lake has a calming effect on the mind. The staff is extremely polite and efficient. And the food at Citrus Cafe is mind blowing. I would suggest for those who would like sit back and unwind.

What can i say!! I have some really special memories associated with this hotel since me and my wife had gone to Kerala for our first wedding anniversary. Everything about the hotel was amazing. We had upgraded to the Superior Lake Front Suite by the hotel management. The room was huge and very spacious and clean along with large TV, dvd player, fridge, sofa, coffee maker, electronic safe and a great view of the lake and pool from the room. There is free Wifi just for one hour everyday which negative. The bathroom was pretty good too along with the jacuzzi and the steam bath. The food was good in the hotel restaurant but was a bit expansive comparatively. The staff of the hotel is very nice and really professional.

Thanks to Tripadvisor this resort seemed to fit my requirement and budget but well done by GoIbibo to get a solid discount on the booking. The direct booking on Hotel site would also have been good. We drove down from Kozhikode so were a bit late in the afternoon to check in but Raisul at the front desk ensured that it was a smooth process. We were upgraded to a higher room complimentary and that was not all. There are lot of complimentary stuff; like kids play things, cycles, swimming pool & towels and the awesome breakfast.
Huge room with a view of the pool and the lake; with large TV and DVD player. The AC was cold but the kids enjoyed it. Bathrooms in our room was peeling off a bit but i would not complain.
Dinner at the Citrus restaurant had lot of options to choose from but pricey; probably most guests would prefer to eat in Alappuzha town before coming in to bed at the resort; we did that the second day at Cassia.
The pool is awesome and you can get plenty of good pictures around sunrise.

Room Tip: I think all rooms anyway face the lake but try to go for the larger rooms; the ground floor rooms ha...

This is a lovely hotel, and it comes so close to being an excellent hotel, but falls short in a few crucial ways. We had a lovely welcome here, the hotel makes a very good impression with buildings open to the air linked by covered walkways. The location is fantastic, with lake views from the rooms and an infinity swimming pool with a nice area for loungers. They upgraded us to first floor rooms with a view of the lake and the pool, and the room had a four poster bed as well as TV, safe, sofa area, AC, fridge (although no booze, they are happy for you to bring your own as long as you consume it only in your room and not in any public areas) and a very nice bathroom. There is an ayurvedic spa where we had a couple of nice treatments. The pool is clean, although not many umbrellas for shade and they run out of towels a lot. The restaurant is not presented well, with no cloths, and laminated mats with very cheesy (and sometimes sexist) jokes, and cutlery on the table in pots, head down, is just unhygienic. There is reasonably good English spoken, and the Indian food was delicious with lots of choice on the menu. However it didn’t always come as described on the menu, and service was really slow. On one occasion I’d finished my main course before my husband’s had arrived. They also seemed to run out of ingredients and dishes quite often. But apart from that the chef knows his job and the food really was delicious. Breakfast is also good, with a variety of western and Indian dishes on the buffet and egg and pancake dishes to order. Our second morning the coffee machine was broken, coffee and hot water for tea took a long time to arrive. The communal areas and the rooms are clean and comfortable, there is an hour of complimentary WIFI a day (more at a charge), but there are a lot of stairs and steps, anyone with mobility problems would struggle. As I say, this is very close to being a truly lovely place to stay. It needs some money spending in the dining room, and perhaps more staff in the kitchen and by the pool, but I’d stay here again.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms feel more private as downstairs rooms open onto the pool. The glass is silvered but y...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your visit to Lemon Tree Vembanad Lake Resort, Muhamma-West of Kumarakom, Kerala. We are happy to know you found our resort visually stunning. We continuously refurbish and freshen up our hotels across India, depending on the wear and tear at each hotel as well as the local weather we however apologize for not meeting some of your expectations regarding it.

We have also noted your observation regarding the availability of fresh towels near the swimming pool. We have set processes to ensure the towels are continuously replenished at the poolside and have re-briefed our staff to follow them at all times and take extra care in proactively refurbishing amenities.

We have noted your observation about the jokes on the wall and the fun mats in our café. Our attempt is to bring the freshness and fun of the Lemon Tree brand to life through the use of humor. Our guests find this very refreshing and in fact site it as our unique selling proposition.

Your observations about the restaurant experience are also registered and we have promptly re-looked at our processes to improve food quality and speed of service. We are also sorry you missed enjoying some of your favorite dishes as we were facing some quality issues from the vendors, and were thus not sourcing them during your stay. We hope you enjoy the food better when you visit us next.

Please give us an opportunity to make amends. Should you accede to my request, please email me at gm.vlr@lemontreehotels.com and I will be happy to handle the arrangements personally.

We stayed here for two days in the end of march. I have some mixed reaction about this place.
First the Positives.
* The staff: extremely polite, helpful and caring. Just because of their behavior i felt a little less angry about choosing this resort. Starting from people at reception to home service to restaurant...each and every individual i came across was ever smiling, courteous and friendly.
* The location: Away from the hustle bustle of alleppey it is an amazing place to relax. the view of the lake is breathtaking. the sunrise on the island is not to miss.
* The infinity pool: just superb. it gives a good opportunity to click some memorable pictures.
* the added facilities like DVDs, bikes, play for kids etc.
* Buffet Breakfast: a lavish spread. the quality of food is also good. on our second morning the breakfast was Ala carte as there were not many guests in the hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Now the negatives: (the list will be looong).
*First and most important: ANTS: as soon as we entered our room i noticed many ants in the area where Tea and coffee maker was kept. It was really irritating. we called up house keeping. a person came cleaned the area and sprayed something and left after assuring us that it will not return but this was a consistent problem throughout our stay. there were ants every where. so many times we had to get our sugar and tea satchet holder replaced. once we kept our empty mugs on the table after having tea. some time later it was filled with ants. once we kept a comb near to the washbasin there were ants in that as well. I had purchased some eatables from the market on our visit to the city. when we came back i kept the packet in the show case under the TV thinking the ants will not reach there but was mistaken. next morning i had to throw the complete stuff. highly irritating.
*The next big problem i faced was that there was no milk powder. instead they provide some liquid low fat milk which tastes horrible. And they do not have any other alternative.
*Also they do not have normal tea bags which even a 2/3 star hotel provide. we were given all kind of flavours in tea like lemon, ginger, masala, earl grey etc but as i don't like flavored tea i asked for a normal tea bag and they did not have it. i actually had to buy milk powder and teabags for myself from the market when we went for the back water ride. I mean for the price we paid for a two day stay this was ridiculous.
Another major disappointment was that the swimming pool was closed during our stay. we could just go once for a swim that was on the day of our arrival. after that it was being cleaned for two days. highly disappointing.
I hope my review would be of some help to the readers. The problems mentioned here were brought to the notice of the staff at time of check out and they assured us of rectifying it.

Room Tip: the rooms on the first floor has an amazing room and the rooms on the ground floor has easy access o...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your visit to Lemon Tree Vembanad Lake Resort, Muhamma-West of Kumarakom, Kerala. While we are happy to know that you found our staff to be warm & friendly, and the location and scenic beauty of our resort mesmerizing and visually stunning, we are sorry we did not meet some of your expectations during your stay with us.

Our attempt at Lemon Tree is to ensure the hotel is fresh, crisp and clean and we have laid down our processes accordingly. We have taken a serious note about your comments regarding the presence of ants in your room. Unfortunately, being in a temperate climate we do have to tackle the menace of ants and other insects at times. We routinely carry out fumigation and other pre-defined cleaning procedures to ensure our hotel is insect-free and are already in process of rectifying the issue and taking necessary action to address this challenge. Based on your feedback, we have re-briefed our housekeeping team to ensure all standard cleanliness and hygiene procedures are strictly adhered too.

Re tea bags, we keep Dlecta milk sachet and Tetley Tea Bags in all rooms as per the standard. We have noted your feedback and have taken up the quality of milk creamer with our vendor. We assure you of a better experience on your next visit.

We are also sorry you could not enjoy a swim in the pool as we had to shut it down temporarily as the rains were contaminating the swimming pool water and could have become a health hazard to guests who unknowingly decided to use it.

Please give us an opportunity to make amends. Should you accede to my request, please email me at gm.vlr@lemontreehotels.com and I will be happy to handle the arrangements personally.

Location wise, this property is unbeatable. It is a little distance away from Alleppey which is the best part. Backwaters in Alleppey have become too crowded. This place is at the edge of the massive Vembanad Lake, You have to drive through a village area. Its quiet here. Wildlife is abundant. There is an island in the lake visible from the resort where you can hire a boat to. You can take bikes for a ride around the village. Bikes need to be upgraded/maintained.

The property needs serious renovations. As of April, 2014 I was informed by the manager that already funds have been approved for its renovations and by next winters they will start. And once this is renovated, I doubt there will be a better place to stay than Lemon Tree. The building needs repairs, the rooms and bathrooms need makeovers like some landscaping and attractive lighting.

There is an empty plot in front of the resort, which has become kind of a dumping ground. I really wish someone looks at that even it is not the resort's property.

Staff is very courteous and very helpful. They also employ many differently abled people, which adds to the feel good factor. Service is exceptional.

Right now they have made the best of what was available. The rooms are good. The bathrooms are not upto the mark. They are at most average. Honestly, it didn't feel like Lemon Tree bathrooms. The fittings look cheap. I was upgraded to the Swimming Pool access room. The view from the swimming pool area is very nice. If gets overcast, then it looks really beautiful.

Food is generally good. Breakfast is lavish and tasty. There is a pool table too near the dining room but its condition is pitiable.

I experienced a spa session as well. It was good.

They need to work on the front lawn area. Since it is a tropical place, plants grow fast and in every direction. Some landscaping will go a long way in uplifting the front area of this place. Books and DVD collection is quite extensive.

Staying here was one of my best decisions while in Kerala.

Room Tip: Rooms with swimming pool access are a bonus. Keep doors shut as there are lizards and frogs running...
