We loved the stay in Arunima just for the tranquility of the home together with the outstanding hospitality services of the proprietor.

If anyone needs a home to stay in Alleppey, I do recomment undoubtedly, it's Arunima, as the slogan says.....A home that your feet can leave, not your hearts.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and were more than happy to help out in any way that they could. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The grounds were very pleasnat and nice and relaxing away from the honking of horns. On the downside, the chanting at 5am from a nearby mosque was rather unfortunate but of course nothing the hosts could control. The only complaint I had was the smell from the bathroom in the hot hot weather was pretty foul. Other than that we enjoyed our stay there.

The hosts were very accommodating - a little obsessive about switching off fans though.
Nice house but mosquitos were a problem until the host fumigated the bedroom and sitting areas. Cockroaches in the bathroom were a bit off-putting. Maybe one should accept mosquitos and cockroaches in India ? I would rate the residence as average/just above average.

We had 4 nights in Alappuzha staying with Sali's wonderful family who showed us true Keralan hospitality. The ensuite bedroom was spacious and cool, we had full use of the relaxing verandah, and enjoyed the tropical garden with hammock.
The home-cooked food was delicious and very reasonable, nothing was too much trouble; the manager was very helpful with our canal boat ride, and with transport to/from the station.
The homestay is five minutes walk from a very interesting bazaar where you can buy all sorts of goods (mosquito cream a must for Alappuzha), enjoy a cheap cup of chai & porota for a quick lunch, and stock up on fresh fruit.
Alappuzha beach is a short walk away too, and a good swimming beach, with plenty of stalls to buy a sun hat, an icecream or a cool coconut drink.
We are looking forward to staying in the beautiful soon-to-be- refurbished Heritage Home next time we are in Alappuzha.
Many thanks to Sali and his family for a memorable stay.

We were in Aleppey for 2 days in December 2008 and we had booked our stay at the Arunima Heritage Home. We had got the contacts from the KTDC website for homestays. Mr. Sali and Aunty are great people. They know exactly how to make your stay memorable. Uncle was so helpful in arranging our boat ride on the lake and the backwaters. Everybody made us feel so welcome that we never felt being away from home. The food served were homecooked and very tasty. The beach is only 5 minutes walk from the place and the backwaters only about a kilometer away. I would recommend Arunima for anybody wanting a calm and quiet vacation in homely atmosphere with yummy food and wonderful people like Uncle and Aunty. The beach and the backwaters are additional attractions.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Arunima Heritage Home!
If you are tired of all the spicy Indian food, you can (and we did!) request a less spicy meal and we really liked it. But if you do like spicy food, that's also a possibility.
The people who run the homestay are very nice and helpfull with everything you need. The rooms are big and clean.
So we would strongly recommend you to stay at Arunima!
