Best Western Premier Ocean Hotel

This hotel is for sure one of the best in Yiwu, but compared to other cities it is just average.
I was upgraded to a suite which was not bad. The breakfast in the lounge was average, not a wide selection available. Strange thing: you receive a breakfast coupon for the lounge as well a coupon for a free drink. That's it, not the same as other hotel lounges.
With outside temperatures of 10 - 14 degrees C the room temperature was heated up to 24 degrees C. After asking how to adjust the temperature I got the reply from the assistant manager: sorry, not possible, in winter we are heating the rooms and in summer we are cooling them down.....OK, genrally acceptable, but finally one should have the possibility to adjust the room temperature so that it is comfortable for sleeping. Let's put it like this: positive thing was that I finally was not freezing like one of the other reviewers. I tried both hotel restaurants: the chinese one and the western one. The chinese one was good, the western one is just average.

you dont go to Yiwu on holidays or honeymoon so you select the closest hotel to the market. I ve stayed in best western 2 to 3 times a year for several years now, because there is no other option if you want to be quickly working in the market : this is the only ( huge ) advantgage of this place : it is always overcrowded so that you have to wait ages for an elevator ;for breakfast there are twice more people than available seats and if you stay 365 days there I bet you have same food every day. Rooms are Ok but you have to be a rocket scientist to switch on / off the lightings ( and keep them off !!). If you stay on the "executive", you re offered every day a newspaper ... in chinese !
Although quite expensive the 2Restaurants ( western and chinese) are OK . That s good news because there absolutely nothing in the nearby and you can wait ages for a taxi at the door of the hotel.

I had the opportunity to stay in this hotel many many times. You may call it my permanent address in Yiwu. I shall recommend to stay on Executive floors as everything is special here, and the price difference is reasonable. Avoid staying in normal rooms as the break fast room always remain very very congested and you have to fight to get a place to sit.

The hotel is near to the market but there is not much there and it is very difficult to get a taxi. The rooms are average but the bed was very comfortable. They did not ask us if we wanted a smoking room or not. The carpets are dirty from the ash.

The breakfast is very mediocre but not bad for China. The staff speak English which is refreshing.

TV: There are no foreign channels be ready to watch only Chinese channels.

Room Tip: Pay extra for at least a business room as it is much bigger with a bath.

This hotel is located across from the Markets, good access for the markets. The hotel is not near the main resturant area in Yiwu and no shops or entertainment around the hotel. The rooms are quite small for a supposedly 4 star hotel and the bathroom is tiny. The breakfas buffet is basic but ok, I would only suggest this hotel if you are going to spend a lot of time in the markets.

The hotel was ideally located if your trip to Yiwu only meant going to the Futiyan market. This hotel was bang next to one of the gates to the market.
Also the rooms were adequately spacious and clean, though the bathroom was slightly cramped.
Breakfast and food at the restaurants were also good. For vegetarians, there was a decent option of food.
The problem is that the hotel is a little far away from the centre of the city, and taxis are not easily available. You only manage to find a private taxi outside the hotel and they charge you quite a premium to go anywhere, problem is that you don't have much of a choice.
So in case you only want to visit the market and dine at the hotel, this is the place for you, otherwise it would be wiser to stay somewhere close to the main city centre
also in winters the rooms become extremely warm and close to being claustrophobic. In december we had to sleep with the windows open, because the central ac only gave out warm air

Due to bad insulation and/or energy saving efforts the room was very, very unpleasant cold. You got only one key card at the check in and when you leave the room the heating shut. But, after complains to the staff they gave me an extra key card to put in the main switch all time !
