The Zoo is a great place for a weekend visit. It is a family friendly place and it is great for kids. They can get a lot of hands on experience and they will learn a lot about many different animals and their habitats.
Take the Safari train ride...you will not be disappointed.
It is a great place for a nice leisurely picnic lunch also. And you must go to the petting zoo and feed the giraffes........they are a blast.

The Gulf Breeze Zoo is set up where you can leisurely walk through at your own pace and discover all the animals, with information and descriptions posted on each exhibit. It's not a large zoo by any measure, but for the size there is lots packed in here. Its easy to navigate and get around. Good for young kids and elderly both, as there is lots of benches, picnicking tables and concessions. It would be a great place to have a pick-nick at some point.

There is a variety of exhibits, from Safari themed animals on the train ride (which you can purchase a ticket for an addition cost, only $3 - I recommend it while your there) Its nice that you can feed lots of animals, feeding the camels was entertaining and fun for me and my family. There are north american bears, and apes.. There are also "free range" chickens, roosters, and peacocks that roam around and put on there own private shows!

This reminds me, we also enjoyed going into the exotic bird exhibit, you can feed the birds and they'll land all over / around you.
I went with a large group of family and friends and we had no difficulties with parking or feeling like the place was over crowded. We got to see each exhibit leaving no part of the Zoo undiscovered.
I loved the variety of goats and found the Camels and Graffias to be the most unusual and interesting (both of which you can feed)

Admission to the zoo is modest compared with other Zoo's in the country at $15/adult $11/child but I think for the size of the park and what it has to offer I would of been more pleased paying a lower entrance fee. All the same they would most likely get more business if this admission was lowered.
At the same time parking if free! Which is a cost that you have to pay most places, so I guess it evens out a little.
There are events in the fall I have heard of and plan to return to check out.
One is called "Boo at the Zoo" and "Zoo Lights" admission is only $10 for these.

If you go with low expectations you may have a good time. It resembled a petting zoo or farm more than a zoo. The animals are in cages or small, chain linked pens. Nothing had been done to give the animals habitats that would be
more natural for them. I really feel for them when the Florida summer hits. The signs explaining the animals were scant and I saw virtually nothing on conservation or education. We did the entire thing in 90 minutes and left extremely disappointed and ripped off.

Gulf breeze zoo is one of the best zoos I have ever been to. We have little kids and its perfect for them! You get to feed so many of the animals and get up and close to the rest! It's a little pricey but worth every penny! The train ride is a must!

Good for kids and if you want to just be acquainted with exotic animals available in the zoo and so on.

I visited the zoo while in town hoping I could take spectacular aviary shots; it proved to be frustrating because the nets, grills on the cages were in the way. though I do understand that the establishment wants to be extra safe in this particularly litigious state.

Therefore, if you come over, bring your entire family especially the kids but for the love of things sacred, please don't let them chase the roaming fowl around screaming, terrorizing the birds, those creatures get scared and it reflects your lack of parenting skills.
