“A stunning place to spend a few days”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We had the family bungalow with the adults upstairs in a lovely space with wonderful views over the Gulf of Thailand and our teenage children downstairs in a separate space. This suited us fine but may not be so suitable for younger children. The garden and pool were delightful and I loved the Eco feel without air con but others of our group weren't as comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive but I would have liked a little bit more help when trying to decide upon our itinerary. Breakfast and our dinner was delicious, although dinner bit more expensive than eating in town. Great access to the national park and we loved visiting the Led Zep cafe. Also the only place I came across in cambodia that charged a 5 percent fee for using the credit card.

Room Tip: Family bungalow has great views for adults but may not be suitable for younger children as they are...

We recently stayed for a couple of nights and thought it excellent value for money. The staff were very nice and helpful, nothing was ever a problem. The food was outstanding, the views lovely and we really enjoyed the room and balcony. Minor comments are that the pillows and linen could do with an upgrade. We hope to be back, thank you for a very relaxing stay.

We had heard fabulous reviews about Le Bout du Monde and we were not to be disappointed as there was little doubt in our minds that it is simply the best mid range option in Kep with lovely rooms, peaceful surroundings, and friendly staff.

Their establishment stuck out first due to its great hillside location facing west with views over the ocean and traditionally built Khmer rooms. We absolutely loved having a giant balcony with a comfy couch, a mellow patio table, and best of all a very comfy hammock....all of which led to some tranquil afternoons reading and napping. Similarly, we were quite pleased with our big bed and the daily fresh flowers that the staff creatively decorated the room with whenever we went out.

The only downside we found was that some of the base staff members struggled with english and french as we were often told 'yes' or 'I dont know' to just about any question we asked. Thankfully, Jean-Luc and his lovely wife were available to help us learn more about the region and were very kind helping us book some tours and get some ideas for the region. The only other down side of the place was that we found the cooking a bit basic and dull, but after two nights we discovered the restaurant at the Veranda Hotel next door charged similar prices but had better quality and bigger portions. In any case, the complimentary breakfast was always nice and we loved the beautiful dining area every morning.

Otherwise, the only other thing to mention is that the grounds of Le Bout du Monde are simply beautiful. The combination of the fruit, flowers, and herbs growing everywhere is simply wonderful and leaves everyone calmed and pleasantly sedated.

In sum, if you dont mind the occasional walk up the hill, or taking a cheap tuk-tuk, this place is by far the best option that we found in Kep. Comfortable, affordable, friendly, and very relaxed. We will most certainly be recommending it to all our friends and will be happy to stay here again when we come back to the area.

Room Tip: there are around 4 bungalows, each with a private feel that are a short walk up the hill. If you do...

Le Bout du Monde is the perfect place to unwind, surrounded by nature and set in a beautiful hillside garden backing onto Kep National Park yet only a 10 minute walk from the crab market.
Made using traditional architecture and mainly natural materials, the bungalows are rustic, charming and individual yet do not compromise on modern comforts and services such as hot shower, lovely bathroom, comfortable beds, well-stocked mini-fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and wifi. Moreover, the design keeps them cool and ventilated, though a fan is provided. There is plenty of space including a roomy verandah with seating, hammock, bamboo blinds, table and chairs. The slope means that relaxing on the verandah is like being in a tree house. The place is secure, and I feel comfortable leaving the verandah doors open at night as I want to wake up to green lushness and distant ocean. The beautiful gardens are crisscrossed by delightful winding paths, small bridges and stepping stones between the bungalows and various arbours with nooks, flowers and fish ponds to enjoy.
Staff are local and service is friendly and willing, yet discrete and unobtrusive - my room is cleaned, bed made, mini-bar replenished, towels changed and toiletries replaced every day. The same staff have been working here for the last five years that I have been returning to Le Bout du Monde - that should assure anyone of the quality and caring attitude of management.
Breakfast is excellent and substantial; there is more than enough to eat on the set menu, though one can ask for more, and the pancakes and home made jams are simply delicious. The restaurant uses local produce, some of it grown in the garden, provides delicious fare from a wide menu, and all meals are freshly cooked to order.
The latest development is the eco-pool. Contrary to recent reviews, there is plenty of space around the pool - at least 10 sun beds - and importantly, there is a good amount of shade. The pool is cleaned every day, the water natural, and the surroundings exquisite. Much attention has gone into even the tiniest detail; there is nothing to jar the senses. It's simply perfect.
This is a great place to stay, wet or dry season. Tourist dollars spent here help to sustain local communities, provide local livelihoods, support local artisans and protect the local environment. Even if Le Bout is fully booked or you are staying elsewhere, its worth visiting the restaurant and browsing the small boutique.

Room Tip: The bungalows higher up the slope have better sea views, though you'll enjoy beautiful sea view...

We had a great stay. The lodges are very comfortable with a rustic character, built from wood and stone and fitted out with old colonial style furniture. The view from the balcony over the forest and sea was outstanding. It was great to be able to hear the sounds of the rain forest whilst lying in bed, reading on the balcony or eating in the restaurant. Being located on the edge of the rainforest made for easy access onto the walking trails. The restaurant served absolutely fantastic food with a great view to boot. We liked the natural feel of the gardens and swimming pool, fed using filtered water. If you want a clinical, chlorinated swimming pool, this is not the place to go. We much prefer the 'rustic' to the 'sanitised'. We had no issues with service or cleanliness. The staff were very helpful and our rooms were clean. We thought it was excellent value and would definitely stay again.

If you like views across the sea this is the place to be. During our stay it was off season so there was maintenance going on and some of the garden was in shambles. Lots of stairs up and down and u can get lost here. Pool is somewhat Eco style with plants growing right next to it and very little space to lay down next to the pool....actually no place. All in all good place.

You can not have all the advantages ; be near the national park and have the best view of Kep while being on flat ground. It is a natural place not a place in shambles.
We just finished building our pool and we make little by little the landscaped amenagement with less disturbance as possible. For now, our guests can benefit the same prices than before.

it is a good place but you have to know that it is not a typical Eco-lodge as i would have imagined... rather lovely setting, it is basic - yes, it is Khmer style bungalow but they are rustic.. so not a place for confort.
Food is gorgeous, service is friendly but do not expect hotel service.
I rated as average due to the lack of confort (for the price) But for the awared people, it might be a great experience.

You must have the ability to enjoy a traditional Khmer style house with modern comforts: internet, room service, safe, kettle for tea and coffee, mini bar, hammock on the terrace etc ....
