“Over hyped”

Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island)

This is a pleasant day out from Kep. Nice boat trip over and certainly not expensive. However, I have to say we were rather underwhelmed, this is certainly not a tropical island paradise. The main beach is gently shelving but is backed by a selection of huts/stalls which are not particularly scenic.
I tried to walk the path around the island, only the be thwarted by the tide on the final section. Much of the path is through overgrown scrub rather than tropical vegetation. Sadly, a lot of litter washes up on the beaches and no-one gathers it up.
All in all a bit of a disappointment, given all the hype in the local literature.

cute little island. Don't expect much. It's great for a lazy day. Decent Khmer food served from a few little shacks. Some nice beach massage. Plenty of chairs. Could be a bit choppy on a windy day.

We spent the day here. There's not much to do as it's a tiny island but the water was so calm in the afternoon and the beach had a good combination of sun and shade. I am giving it 5 stars because we had a top day there and i also ate the best prawns i have ever eaten in my life. About halfway up the beach from a little shack under some coconut trees looks unassuming but if you want the freshest seafood you will ever eat in your life, i would go here. There are some bungalows on the island too which look very rustic and gorgeous too. For those who like aircon and flashy bathrooms, just go for the day but i will definitely be coming back to stay a night on rabbit island.

Took the boat over to Rabbit Island when staying on Kep as it seemed to be what everyone was doing but were really disappointed. The beach is scruffy, lined by dodgy looking restaurants and with nothing if interest to see so took a trip to neighbouring islands to snorkel, fish and see a fishing village. The snorkelling was a waste of time as the water is murky and coral all dead, and the fishing village was the most litter strewn place I have ever seen. Was really glad to leave this overrated island.
