The good things about this hotel are the pool, the view and the central location. Otherwise, it seemed overpriced by Cambodian standards at $40 a night for a standard hotel room with bathroom. Kep is more expensive than other places in Cambodia, but I had expected a little more for this price. However, it was clean and we had no major complaints.

The restaurant food was very average and the drinks expensive ($1.75 for a can of local beer!), but we found some delicious food on the square at Pon Leu Hotel just two minutes walk away (there are some shady tables outside opposite the hotel next to the hammocks.) They are also good for arranging tours and onward travel.

After reading the reviews we didn't expect much but was very surprised when we arrived. The beach house is wonderful with very clean and spacious rooms. The staff is friendly and has a good understanding of English. The pool is fantastic with a lovely view of the beach below. The food from the restaurant is great and good value for Kep but the service can be a little slow. Overall we would definitely come back and can only recommend this to other travellers.

After staying further outside of town, we were so glad to move to The Beach House with its amazing view of the Gulf of Thailand. While the beach isn't the best, it is nice to look at, and the local children sure love swimming there. We loved having the little pool as it was so refreshing after walking in the heat. We did walk to the crab market for an amazing meal, but took a tuk-tuk back. We found the service quite good, just a relaxed pace. We really enjoyed our time there, especially seeing the big geckos.

We stayed here for three nights in November. The location is great, the view spectacular and the rooms are spacious and clean. The pool is fantastic. The hotel staff, whilst being smiley and helpful, are not too bright and very slow. The dinner/breakfast service is painfully slow, allow plenty of time if you're going out after. We were given incorrect information by staff members regarding day trips and onward travel, meaning that we had to cut a day trip to Bokor short, missing the boat trip as we ran out of time.

Room Tip: Get a room upstairs for the best view.

Stayed overnight at this hotel that had many sets of stairs to negotiate. Staff on arrival were pleasant and helpful.
The room shown us faced west and was beastly hot as the blinds had not been drawn to cut out the afternoon sun. Great view from our room on the upper floor and the bathroom was large and clean. A big plus was the sufficient number of electrical outlets in room – these are crucial to a techie (& a ‘quarter’) who simply must travel with computer gadgetry like smart phone, e-reader, camera batteries and ipad. I was the ‘quarter’ – travelling with my e-reader coz after all I am on vacation. And not being a techie, my camera operates on AA batteries. Free Wi-Fi in room and also in reception area.
The outside stairs were slippery after some heavy rain during the night.
Things to do in an afternoon:
- A short walk uphill to visit the King’s abandoned villa. But that’s all it is, an abandoned villa with ‘squatters’ living there.
- It’s possible to walk down to the main drag but the heat and humidity were too much. Take a tuk tuk. There are lots of abandoned French villas to see. Very retro.
- Hang by the hotel pool, the setting is tranquil, also, there is a beach area in front of hotel property but I didn’t visit it.
- A very doable walk to the Fish Market for drinks and a very fresh and tasty crab or fish dinner. A tuk tuk ride back to the Beach House costs three dollars.
Breakfast, extra and a la carte, was so, so. The young man working this shift seemed to be waiter, bottle washer, receptionist and accountant all rolled into one. Needless to say service was slow that morning, though I’m not entirely convinced it was due to the numerous duties he had.
TBH did not take credit cards.
I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Great view of the sea from rooms on the second floor, but bear in mind there's no elevator.

We stayed here for 2 nights, and I'm glad we only booked 2 nights. Starting with positives, rooms are very nice. Comfy beds, big bathroom and great sea views. Negatives - Power was cut off 4 times during our stay, the hotel has a generator however it wasn't turned on until we prompted them. Laundry was bought back damp after 2 days. Staff are too laid back and lazy. They're pleasent however their priority is to play billiards rather than wait on their guests. We paid $40 per night (no breakfast), a little to expensive after our experience. A nice property with potential however I wouldn't come back.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room so you get the great views.
