“Quiet and relaxing”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

When we pulled up and into the parking area, I thought it might be a bit more "rustic" than what I was hoping for - but our tour package had booked this location as the accommodations they normally used in Kep were full. We were able to walk from the hotel to Kep in the evenings without any trouble. While the breakfast selection was a bit lacking compared to some of the other places we stayed while in Cambodia - we got to enjoy the afternoon coffee - which became our ritual at 4 PM. I do not know what type of coffee they serve, but it was by far my favorite of all I had while in Cambodia! Also enjoyed Happy Hour after walking to Kep for an early dinner - and we could hear the musician in the evening from our bungalow which was pleasant. No issues with WIFI in our room or at the pool area. There were some ants in our room, but that seemed to only be noticeable on our first night. It was a better experience than I thought I would have based on my initial impression.

Our family with 3 kids (12/10/5) booked at the last minute on Jan 1st and 2nd. There were no family rooms available so opt for a standard and superior room side by side. When we arrived the 2 rooms were on the opposite of each other and the very nice owner understood very well the problem. Lucky 2 superior rooms side by side were available. Those rooms are fantastic. Very large with a twin bed and a side bed perfect for the extra child. Bathrooms are huge as well. They are very comfortable. Only the hot shower was not regular.
The 2 swimming pools are nice. Too bad the water is very cold but was the same in other hotels.
The food is not the strongest point and as one reviewer said it is expensive for what it is (not much local choice and the restaurant environment is not really cosy). Lucky it is walking distance from the sailing centre with a good food and a killing view.
Breakfast are good (except the coffee) with ample choice.
Overall, i would say it was a good relaxing time in a very nice place. I would recommend it especially for a romantic week end.

Weak point: tuk tuk are very expensive but nothing to do with the hotel.
Nothing to do around the area. Forget about Kampot.
Good point: if you want to relax around the pool and on the rooms, go there

Advice to the owners: it would be nice to have more trees in front of each rooms to have more privacy on the small terrace

The hotel is a series of semi-detached and round detached, thatched rooms set in a huge garden with two big swimming pools. There is also an attached pair of very comfortable "family rooms" (where we stayed) with lovely big beds (and a bunk bed) with mosquito nets. All have balconies and good bathrooms, sofas, TVs, fridges, etc.
The garden plants are now well-established (one earlier review suggested this was not yet the case) and there are large, fine trees and flowers. Also lots of passion-fruit vines growing everywhere, which we especially liked (and enjoyed in evening drinks). In all it is a really beautiful setting with views of the hills behind Kep and at most 3 minutes by car from the Crab Market (Psar Kadam), so very well placed.
The bar and restaurant are well-designed, attractive and comfortable. We had drinks in the evening and a very good breakfast indeed. Plenty of variety, good quality, fresh and lots of it.
The kids swam in the pool, though it was quite cold. It's that time of year. Or they used the trampoline, which they liked. There was plenty of space for them to roam about.
Reception was good friendly and helpful, and the service in the restaurant was fine, but I'd say they were short-staffed in the evening (it took some time for drinks to come), probably because of the season. For this reason, although the evening menu looked inviting, we didn't eat there, but went out for crabs and seafood. They weren't full, but most rooms were occupied and I could imagine there might be a problem if everyone was eating dinner at the same time.
A light in the bathroom didn't work and never got fixed, but this was a minor problem. Poor internet reception was also a minor irritant, but nothing serious.
Le Flamboyant is a bit more expensive than other Kep places (I've stayed in 4 others over the years), but worth it in my view for the setting, style, comfort, quality and location.

Room Tip: We had 3 adults and 3 children (2 over 10) in the family rooms. They are huge so very comfortable.

My family of five and another family of friend just stayed at this place. This resort was more or less only option available for two big families around this Christmas time. So we took a chance and booked it through Agoda, although it was a bit pricey side. Over all, it was a good stay. The resort is quite new and very spacious with a lot of open and green spaces. Can be nice for families with little kids who enjoy such spacious grass areas. It has 2 nice pools on each side of 2 bungalow areas. The bungalows are very spacious and clean. Wi-Fi wasn't working properly at the bungalow areas the whole time we stayed, causing some inconveniences. It worked only at the restaurant area. Cable TV in the room was nice. Free Breakfast was average. We ate dinner one evening, and it was so-so, considering the relatively high price. The French manager is working hard to run this place. Its location which is right on the main road is good or bad depending on how one may look at it. It was convenient for us, as we could walk down to the Sailing Club one day and the Crab market the other. One of the negative points was the wrong calculation of food bill at checking out. If I didn't catch it, I would have paid for the meals we didn't order... Le Flamboyant Resort is a decent place and has a lot of potential to be better. To me, it is at a crossroad; that is, if keeping improving (quality and detail of services), it can become a reputable resort in Kep. But if not, I'm afraid it may go down as "overpriced and a bit ordinary" as the previous reviewer described. For I think the competition is on among the resorts in Kep.

This is our second time here. Came here 2 years ago. It has got lot bigger as a hotel. Staff friendly. Rooms cleanish, breakfast not bad. Beds comfortable. We were comparing with last time we were here and it did not stack up quite as well as the previous time. It has lost some its charm by getting bigger. Two pools was nice but the resort lacks something that made it special last time.
A bit overpriced but that can be said for a lot of the accommodation in these tourist places in Cambodia.
Watch out for the overpriced tuk tuks. They are starting to take the micky out of the tourists on prices.
Would I stay here again. Not sure but that could also be said for Kep. Take liberties with the tourists and they don't come back

Room Tip: Take a superior room in the old section much more private

Le Flamboyant is a great resort with very nice bungalows with much space and two pools. The staff is very welcoming and I spent plenty of time having chats with them. The location is great as it is close to the center and one can walk back to the hotel in the evening. I would recommend this resort to anyone going to Kep.

We travelled as a group of 20+ and so I was a little concerned having read previous reviews about slow service. I needn't have been concerned - Franck and his staff were incredibly attentive. My room was cleaned before I'd finished breakfast, drinks and restaurant meals were prompt. My only criticism on the slow service front was that breakfast hot items were a bit slow to come out, and when they did, they were in small quantities that were snapped up quickly. But it really wasn't a big deal. I was more than happy to enjoy a cup of good coffee and the scenery while I waited.

Rooms are set around a pool, with larger bungalow style rooms around another pool. Great backdrop - really enjoyed sitting on my verandah looking at the mountains.

Good location across the road from the Sailing Club (great cocktails, good food), and walking distance to the Crab Market (a number of restaurants).

Can't speak highly enough of Franck for his attentive management of our large group. He really was everywhere, doing everything. Highly recommend Le Flamboyant for anyone heading to Kep.

Room Tip: All rooms are great since they surround the pools in a semi-circle layout. You can't get a bad...
