“Wonderful hotel, best in Kampot and perhaps Cambodia.”

Rikitikitavi is a wonderful hotel with absolutely charming hosts (Denise and Dom). The restaurant area is lovely and the food is of a very high quality (best in Kampot). Lovely clean rooms and a great DVD library. This is the best hotel in Kampot and was certainly the best Cambodian hotel we stayed in. We had no criticism of the hotel at all! Strongly recommended.

Loved our stay at Rikitikitavi at the start of the year, and it was our fave place in Cambodia. The Rikitikitavi is nicely situated on the river in Kampot, has superb owners and staff, great value rooms, and a fun anf friendly vibe. The upstairs restaurant has a cool breeze and serves sublime food and cocktails, almost certainly the best in this town. Only complaint was all the rooms are on the ground floor, and if you dont book ages in advance you cannot get a room here due to its huge popularity with ex-pats and nice tourists.

Like everyone else, we had a great time at Rikitikitavi and really enjoyed our stay in Kampot.

The rooms were great: big, comfy bed; a good, hot shower; and plenty of room. The DVD player/huge collection of DVDs is a real bonus, although not as much of a bonus as sharing our room with a couple of HUGE gekos. The plentiful breakfast was included in the flat $35/night rate. We didn't actually eat at the restaurant as we felt it was a touch expensive compared to elsewhere, although only by a dollar dish or so. In fact the real reason for not eating there was probably more so we could explore the area. Although Dom and Denise very much own rather than run the business, if you bump into either they are happy to chat and help with advice for onward travel in the rest of Cambodia.

Kampot itself grows on you. Compared to the hussle and bustle of the Mekong Delta towns of Vietnam, it is a quiet backwater and, beyond strolling around the small centre for an hour or two, there really isn't much to do. But it really is worth doing a couple of side trips, first to the Bokor National Park, which takes in a pretty arduous trek through a forest on account of the main road being closed; and secondly hire a tuk-tuk for a day and head to Kep as well as a couple of temples and a pepper plantation. A lot of fun and it is a great way of seeing the countryside. Kep is very surreal. After tramping around various tour organisers, we ended up arranging both trips through Rikitikitavi, who didn't take commission and made it all very easy.

One last point, if you are coming from Phu Quoc, once you arrive in Ha Tien, look out for the Moto drivers who are touting for trips to the border. They can take you to the border and then on to Kampot. It costs about the same the boat-bus option but is much, much quicker.

I have stayed at the Rikitikitavi on a number of times and would think it to be the best place to stay in Kampot. The food, owner and staff are excellent and thet bother to remember my name, a little thing that matters to me. Rooms are excellent for the south of Cambodia and come with nice beds which is a nice change. Other advise is to book ahead as it is popular.

We have great memories of our stay in Kampot especially recalling the characters at the Rikitikitavi Guesthouse.

Denise and Dom run this very pleasant riverfront guesthouse with modern clean and comfortable well equipped rooms and an outstanding rooftop restaurant. The food is the best in town.

With happy attentive staff like Rumdoul and Phath (cheeky monkey) providing outstanding and “cheeky” service it’s not surprising the Riki is the best place in town.

The Riki is situated on the Kampot riverfront close to numerous outdoor restaurants and with spectacular sunset views to the Bokor Mountains.

Highly recommended

RikiTiki Tavi does not need my review as there are so many great reviews about this place. I really just want to add a couple of photos of the best staff in Cambodia.
Kampot is the most beautiful place I have been in four visits to Cambodia. Denise from RikiTikiTavi can link you up with great guides and drivers to show you why Kampot is the best. I would also recommend hiring a motorbike to travel down the quiet side roads and witness village life in its colorful authenticity. But back to RikiTikiTavi. Yes - the best food in Cambodia, great rooms with wonderful individual touches such as images of Cambodia from a time gone by, staff that are entertaining, charming and helpful beyond belief, a great location on the river front, a three course breakfast each included in the cheap price of around $35 per room and so much more.
Cambodia is one huge bargain basement. The best bargains in Cambodia are often the more expensive choice. In Kampot you can get a decent meal for $3.50, however for the bargain price of $5.50 you can have a magnificent meal at RikiTikiTavi. For me, this is the better deal. For the extra $1 - $2 you get to eat food cooked by a qualified Cambodian chef that you will remember for the rest of your life. I think this is the better deal. RikiTikiTavi has a balcony bar area overlooking the mountains and river. You get a coolish breeze and a great view. Defiantly worth visiting for a sunset drink and satay stick. I can guarantee that you will enjoy the burgers here too.
Don't miss out on RikiTikiTavi; it may not be here for ever.
One important reason to stay at RikiTikiTavi that I have left out; the staff are well looked after by the owners. They get holidays, training and good pay. This is the reason you will find the same happy staff year after year. I can not say the same for many other places in Cambodia.

The best place to stay in Kampot! We really enjoyed our stay in Kampot and at Riki and wish we didn't have to leave. The staff are super friendly and helpful and addressed us by name which was great after being called "sir" and "madam" our whole trip, which we hate! We highly recomend Riki as the place to stay in Kampot. And the food is amazing!!
