“some over writing by friends here i think!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Sorry but if it takes 20 minutes to get a drink not a good start. Didn't stay to eat as i don't do kitchens with dogs, call me a old fart but fresh and dog don't mix.

“Maybe the Mexican is better”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

Tried the Japanese food, it was fine. But the Sushimi was still frozen, the rest was a bit rice heavy. Nice place though and its still new so sure it will improve. I would go back to try the mexican.

“Jap-a-Mex? Si Senor!”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

Owners Shawn and wife Kerie have created an oasis of many delights at their home by the river in Kampot. From the moment you enter the garden until the time you utter your via con dios and sayonara Senor Sushi delivers an incredibly happy dining experience.
Seating is either al fresco, under the gazebo or in the house by the well stocked bar. Gentle music wafts out over the garden fountain where you are surrounded by landscaped greenery sporting everything from banana to passion fruits.
It's a perfect combination of atmosphere, service and of course the food that make Senor Sushi a restaurant well worth visiting. Or it could be simple curiosity that brings you through the gate the first time. Tex-Mex and Japanese...in Cambodia...really?
Yes really. It works. All ingredients are fresh and as authentic as it gets in the wolly South East of Kampot Province. Home made salsa chips and taco shells are crisp, not at all oily and tasty. The pepper poppers, a variation on chile rellenos are filled with seasoned cream cheese, dipped in a light tempura batter and lightly fried before being delivered to your table. The tacos themselves are loaded with your choice of fish, beef or pork, topped with grated cheese and served with a home made salsa you can add to taste. Their chili con carne is just like the ones I used to make back home with lots of ground beef, kidney beans, onion and ground fresh tomato. I haven't had the chance to sample their other Mexican offerings, but based on the few I've tried and reports from other diners, they hot the mark time after time.
The sushi is delicious as well. I sampled the tuna and the fresh water eel ones just last night and was amazed that a Canadian and an American could teach their Cambodian staff to make such excellent sushi. Served with wasabi, that fiery green horseradish, pickled ginger and soy sauce I was only sorry that after a couple of tacos that I was too full for more than six pieces.
Being a sucker for a bargain, I am drawn by such themed days as Margarita Monday, Taco Tuesday and Sushi Friday. With happy hour draft beer at .50 cents every day, what more enticement does a hungry man need? I know that I will happily return to this hidden gem as often as I can. Be prepared to arrive at Senor Sushi with an empty stomach and leave with a full one and a smile on your face.

“Great Sushi, Even Better Mexican”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Kampot needed a great Japanese or Mexican joint, and this place delivered the goods on both - kind of a wierd mix - but it works. Run by an American/Canadian couple, Senor Sushi delivered the goods for us.
Great food, great location, with friendly staff.
Sit out in the beer garden, watch the sun set as you enjoy the only real sushi in town, or if that's not your thing, hoe down on some very beefy boritos' or buffalo wings. Or just enjoy the cheap beers (50c beers on Thursdays!)
We'll be back for sure!
