“What a journey!”

Old Catholic Church
Reviewed December 5, 2013

We rented scooters in kampot and rode up here. One of the best days ever, with smooth roads going up through the national park and jungle. Spectacular views over the coast to vietnam to admire. The top of the mountain has some pretty terrible developments going on, but we loved the old casino and this church. It is very erie as the fog rolls through the defunct windows one minite and the sun blazes the next. At times it reminded us of camping in the appellations as kids and this made us love it all the more.

Definitely worth the stop to take some pics if the mists in and it's really eerie. Or it was until we went inside and some family were having a picnic in there! Disrespect I think.
Prominent bullet holes are still visible inside amongst the graffiti so it's worth a stop and reflect moment.

Despite being dwarfed by the new casino down the hill, it is still impressive to take a short walk through the church and its surroundings. A bit disappointing that there is so much graffiti on the inside, but with the constant clouds rolling around outside, photographers can have a great time taking ominous pics

The history is interesting even though the church is quite small. Can be eerie as other reviewers have said with the mist around the spire. It gets quite cold so a jacket is recommended.

When I visited the catholic church it was shrouded in mist. The spire was rising out of the mist and it had an unreal appearance. It's not difficult to imagine the place full of Khmer Rouge in a gun battle with the Vietnamese army across the road.
This is a very photogenic spot given the right atmosphere and lighting, early morning or late afternoon would be best.
