We stayed for 2 nights at the Riverside. I chose it mainly for the lovely views from the riverfront rooms. We had a room on the second floor facing the river but as mentioned by other reviewers this means climbing the stairs!. The room was very clean and a good size, just as seen on their website.Great breakfast, although limited to western choices, but some of the best baguettes we had. A fabulous location on the river and just a 5 minute walk to plenty of cafes etc.

Room Tip: Views from the upper levels at the front of the hotel are great but it means climbing the stairs.

I saw a post on Facebook offering a 3 night stay for the cost of 2. Great value, fabulous location right on the river. I don't think I have ever stayed in a cleaner place!
Very good cocktails, meals are catered from a little cafe next door as there is no kitchen on the premises but you are a stroll away from lots of riverside eateries

We stayed here for 3 nights, and thought it was a really good place and excellent location. It has only been around for about 2 years, and is very clean and secure. The rooms are nice (we had a partial river view on the second floor - which meant less stairs), and there are extra touches that are unusual in Cambodia in this price range (toiletries etc). The breakfast was a welcome surprise - fed us for the entire day! Ray and his team looked after us really well, and made us feel welcome. It is one of the few nice places right on the river in the centre of town, and is slightly removed from the rest (no more than a 3 minute walk), which makes it nice and quiet at night.

This hotel is in a new building. We chose one of the more expensive rooms ($39 with breakfast, $33 without). It had a sideways view of the river but it was so small, ditto the bathroom. Also you need to enjoy climbing stairs if you choose a room with a good view. Nice communal balconies at the front of each floor, overlooking the river. Breakfasts were very good but choice of one (western). Well managed. Slightly on the edge of town but easy to walk everywhere on the riverside. For further afield, bikes can be rented in town for $1 per day.

Thank you for taking time to write a review.

We are a bit baffled in regards to your comments on the size of the room and bathroom. Both are actually over the standard size here in Cambodia.

Also, considering that you inspected various rooms before deciding on a "partial river view" room on the 3rd floor, we do consider it a little bit strange to complain about the room size and stairs when you did have an option to choose a room on a lower level.

p.s. best to check out the other Kampot hotel reviews from this contributor to get the full picture.

Regards,
Ray

This is a really nice and clean, well organized hotel. The owner is Australian and runs it well. Anything happens or you need something and he is around plus he emailed us with loads of help prior to trip. The rooms are very nice with all expected things. Comfiest pillows in S.E. Asia -- finally! Breakfast is really good with lovely fruit/ coffee and tea plus eggs etc. Location couldn't be better. We would stay again.
