The Green House was exactly what we were looking for during our stay in Kampot: a peaceful and paradise-like setting, somewhat away from the town, lovely bungalows with fantastic views, clean facilities and great food. But the best feature are the owners; Ritchie and Dave are the best! Helpful, relaxed, funny and just all-round cool! We just had the best time at their place and would recommend it to no-fuss-travelers who don't mind staying away from the town and enjoy a natural setting. It's easy enough to reach the Green House with the motorbike, which is anyway the best way to explore the fantastic scenery around Kampot. For us, this was the best place in Cambodia, and we're sure to be back!

Getting There: We were advised that it had only been open for less than 12 months so as we expected the private minibus we hired to take us there had some trouble finding the place, although they did try very hard the language barrier was a bit too much and luckily enough we had one of the owners numbers so used the drivers mobile to give them a quick call and he put a Khmer staff member on the line and it was all sorted. So for those looking to stay maybe get a number before setting out.

Location: Absolute paradise. We arrived right on sunset and it was amazing to see the sun going down behind the mountain ranges.

Accommodation: There are a number bamboo huts facing over an estuary (safe to swim in with a little man made beach and some tubes to float around on) with electricity, highly effective mosquito nets, a simple clothes rack and mirror and that's it. So if you are expecting the Taj Mahal then this isn't for you, it's simple and relaxed accommodation but not at the expense of comfort.

Food/Drink: The greatest part about the Green House is the bar..from what we were told it had existed in Phnom Penh before being taken apart, transported and then reassembled. You could order western and Khmer meals here as well as drink out on the verandah over looking the water.

Service. Was fantastic. First night we arrived we had five scooters sorted for the next day ($5/ day) within an hour and ended up keeping these for the whole time..doing a day trip to Kep and around the pepper plantations.

Excellent place, there is hardly anything to complain about, bungalows are good value, food is excellent, service is chilled out but still very professional and personal. I recommend to everybody wanting nice peaceful place to stay not too far from the town center and stationed on the riverside.
