Nataya Roundhouse Coral Bay Resort
Ranked #12 of 17 Hotels in Kampot
Reviewed November 21, 2013 via mobile

As some people already said, in this resort is no service existing. It doesn't matter if it's during breakfast or if you are looking for a towel around the pool area. Everybody in this resort is either sleeping or playing with a mobile phone. And this for $100 per night.

The location and the grounds are very nice, but cleanliness, food, service are a disaster and that’s for a high price. I would not recommend to go there. It was my second time now there within 2 years. The food and service was horrible.

By far the worst experience I have ever had. That includes at home in Australia. Poor food, poor service, no spa services and poor management of the pool. When we arrived the pool was green and the following night when we went to get in they had just put chlorine in the pool at 5:30 pm. Didn't put warning signs up and if one of the party hadn't seen them doing it we would have dived in and my 3.5 yr old as well as the rest of us would have suffered serious chemical burns. I had to argue with the staff to get the "complementary" shuttle into town. They were asking for money to take what was suppose to be a free service. Finally they made the shuttle available for me without cost. We were the only ones there which you would think would free up the servants/waiters to look after us more. NO. Not the case. We didn't see hide nor hair of them most of the time we were there. All in all I would strongly recommend to avoid this "resort/asylum" like the plague.

We stayed for 2 nights 21-22 Aug 13 in a superior room (room 114). The check in process was clumsy and once completed we were shown to the room. The chap escorting us to the moved at such a pace it was hard to keep up. Once in the room we got a quick rundown and off he went. The room itself was large enough with separate large bathroom as well as an outside shower. We were in the last of the room near the pool. Unfortunately the floor in the room had rotted in several places which is not what you expect in such an establishment. The holes were big enough to damage your feet.

On the first night we ate in the resort restaurant. As crab is a favoured meal in this part of Cambodia I ordered crab and corn soup – a mistake. Every spoonful was filled with small pieces of crab shell - yuk. The meals are overpriced and not all that good. The staff were somewhat attentive, but this have been that we were the only patrons. Breakfast selection was OK however the staff were not all that great.

Whilst we were there the rain was persistent and heavy. During a break in the rain on the first day we went to the pool and could not find any towels or directions as to where they were. Having spotted one of the staff I requested two towels and off he went. 15 minutes later still no towels so off to reception I went. After blank looks and several conversations it was established that towels were now at the poolside. This is a resort!!

We stayed within the confines of the resort for the full two days. Overall the staff, although not rude, do not provide the level of service you would expect for the rates charged. They do not have good English and definitely require training. Do yourself a favour, drive thru Kampot to Kep and stay at the Veranda Resort. Given what we experienced at the Nataya we could not recommend the resort. Rating 6 out of 10.

Room Tip: Rooms close to pool are good except for holes in the floor.

Hi all,

This is my first post as I was just thinking of my holiday to Cambodia and it has been a couple of months since my friend and I had the pleasure of staying at the paradise-like Nataya Resort for four days. During our time we relaxed into the comfortable surroundings of our bungalow and enjoyed taking in the atmosphere walking through the beautiful gardens and getting memorable pics of our time there. We loved lazing in and about the infinity pool having a refreshing drink or some. Loved getting the daily massage service too. We didn't have any problems with the staff, they were friendly and prompt when needed. I remember the chef cooked me some delicious vegetarian dishes while my friend certainly had no complaints about the seafood menu because she ate heaps, haha. Our bungalow room was beautiful with the nights being nice and cosy. I really liked having the option of an private outside shower. Thanks Nataya for giving us a wonderful experience of Cambodia by the sea.

Fantastic way to finish a wonderful holiday in Cambodia with three days at this Resort. Forget what others have written ,the food was excellent ,Lobster pilled high for $15, we loved every minute of it . Staff friendly ,owners also nice ,Go Parra! We have travelled the world several times and a Price of about 100 per day ,we think was a gift.

Room Tip: all rooms appear to be very good, although ours was close to the pool, a must in February.

We planned to stay at Nataya Resort for 4 days but extended our stay for another 3 days. We had a connecting room and found it to be very convenient for my husband and I and our two young children. The children had a wonderful time in the swimming pool, on the grounds, fishing and playing of the beach. The food was good and while our children could not eat what we ate, the staff managed to cook food up to accommodate them. The weather was not the best but we managed to enjoy it nonetheless. Overall, we found it a very relaxing experience, the staff friendly and helpful and the food better than what we had experienced in other parts of our travels. We would recommend our friends to come to the Resort.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms that are closest to the pool with a direct view of the pool and the sea.
