Service was superb! The owner/manager checked with our group throughout our stay asking if everything was ok - it was. As I was leaving I wanted to purchase a carved chair but didn't know how to get it on the airplane. The owner offered to wrap it securely and suggested I check it as my second piece of luggage. It arrived in the US in perfect condition - thank-you!
Beds were comfortable, we appreciated the flashlight for nighttime use and also having an escort to our tents at night.
Wonderful selection of food and of course the views are magnificent. Wish I could have stayed longer than overnight.

It was unfortunate that we only stayed for one night there as the set up is amazing. From the terrace, you have an amazing view of the plain and the river and it is very easy to watch the animals coming down for a drink while you are having a drink too! Staff was very friendly and welcoming, the food nice and plentiful. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which had a super big wooden comfi bed. Only downside was the amount of mould growing on the walls of the shower but if you don't look too closely, you will be fine. Everything else was spotless and the floor of the shower was fine. In the middle of the night, we had animals (jackals?) who had a sniff at our tent and tried to get in (yeah, good luck!) and it only made the whole experience true as you are surrounded by wild animals. In the morning, herds of impalas were grazing by the tents. Overall, very very nice!

The lodge has the most amazing views over the river where you can sit and watch the animals. Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. The tents are like home from home - very comfortable and well thought out. The lounge/restaurant area is beautifully set out and gives ones a real taste of the "African experience". An amazing place!

We stayed in February 2010 and absolutely did not want to leave! We stayed in one of the bungalows as we had our 2 little girls with and it was comfortable. Our girls (10 and 6) loved the grounds and the pool. The views are stunning - wildlife fantastic - staff friendly and helpful and the Owners/Managers were outstanding! We are ready to go again to Tarangire!

We've just stayed at Lemala Luxury Tented Camp in the Northern Serengeti just next to the Mara River. What a fantastic place! The tents were just brilliant with a full bathroom and comfy beds. Staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble and we had many great conversations with them. They were unobtrusive, but always around whenever you needed them. The chef was happy to cook something for the kids if they didn't want the adults food, and the food was lovely. We saw the migrating wildebeest crossing the Mara River twice - amazing! All in all a wonderful experience!

After been through Ngorongoro and Serengetti I found this hidden gem, the park contains more animals then both the others. During my first night I heard the Elephants walk by, I heard the roars of the big cats. During breakfast I discovered the most amazing view, at lunch we could see the Lions mate. I left the lodge with 1500 photos; I stayed the last day extra for their kitchen.
There is no Rhinos or Hippos in the Park, but it allows for slow and thorough game drives where you can stay calmly at one spot when you have discovered something worthwhile observing.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Built on top of a high bluff with a breathtaking panorama, our lodge is superbly located in Tarangire National Park, providing one of the best views in Africa. Carving out the landscape below the lodge is the Tarangire River, a favourite watering place, which attracts impressive numbers and a variety of game. The scene unfolds before you while lounging on the outdoor patio, allowing you to appreciate Tarangire's diverse wildlife. At the heart of the lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining room. The open-sided design allows an uninterrupted view of the landscape and wildlife below, and captures the cooling breeze while you dine on our delicious home cooked safari cuisine. The lounge area has oversized armchairs made from old dhow boats, which make a perfect place to relax. Those wanting something a bit more active can take a dip in the pool, a bird walk around the lodge grounds or hunt for souvenirs in the Baobab boutique. Our twin tents combine the authentic safari atmosphere of 'nights under canvas', with more modern comforts of electric light and en suite bathrooms with solar hot water. We also have bungalows that provide the space and convenience of solid walls yet blend into their surroundings by using local stone and echoing the traditional round Maasai huts. Tarangire Safari Lodge offers morning & evening bush walks along the river, Night Drives and Game Drives and don't miss a massage with a view at "Patulivu"! "Karibuni" or Welcome! ... more   less
