The view from the terrace overlooking Tarangire river would be enough by itself to recommend Tarangire Safari Lodge, as you can easily skip going on a game drive and just contemplate wildlife from there. In fact the food is great, the staff welcoming and the tents, although basic enough, are perfectly ok. I would absolutely recommend it!

This lodge is amazing. Nice location near the entrance gate of the park, incredible view from the good tents and from the restaurant. The best buffet we had in Tanzania so far. Lovely staff, nice sundowners location and nice views on wildlife and birds from the restaurant area. We visited in both april (cheap, beautiful scenery and superb bird watching) and july (enormously herds of elephant, buffalo and wildebeast). A small swimmingpool is available, but simple.
This lodge is really worth your money, if you are not able to sleep over, book the buffet lunch, enjoy the luxury and promise to yourself that next time you will stay over for the night!

If you plan on visiting Tanzania, Tarangire National Park should be priority number one on your agenda. It just so happens that one of the best safari lodges you could visit anywhere is located in this park, the Tarangire Safari Lodge. This visit, the second to Tarangire Safari Lodge for my wife and I, included my two sons ages 12 and 14 who thought it was "very cool".
Other than the incredible experiences you will witness during your stay are the friendly staff who work hard to make you as comfortable can be, especially the owners, Annette and Jon, who treat each of their guests like friends of the family and make everyone feel special.
Read through all the reviews to get a broad spectrum of experiences and observations from visitors who hail from all parts of the world and see how all of this would be difficult to put into so few words.
Say hi to Jon in his "office", the fire pit each evening on the patio.

Room Tip: Ask for the tent at the end of the line for added excitement. Ask for a bungalow if you are uncomfo...

That was my first impression of this place!...
I am not a camper but wanted to try a tent in Africa, and this place was amazing!! Was so impressed as I walked through the lovely reception, saw the dining area, the pool and then my tent! The tents were fantastic, clean and spotless and fully equipped with everything you need. It just got better!! as I went to have drinks and nibbliesand to watch the sunset, I was greeted by your lovely staff Stella, who I bonded with the whole time I was there - what a laugh we had!...Usually over my face trying to see everything at once! .....The whole experience was amazing, we had a giraffe in front of our tent, elephants behind with monkeys as an added bonus. Then found the food and choices were out of this world!...Not what I expected at all. And during our trip we stayed at many hotels but nothing could top this first impression of Tanzania for us!

Room Tip: We stayed at tent 19, which was quite a ways along the path but thats where we saw the giraffe and e...

I loved Tarangire Safari Lodge. What a shame we only stayed one night. We were greeted on arrival by Annette, the hostess, who made a point of meeting and greeting every guest. The lodge itself has great views over the Tarangire River, and you can sit on the terrace at dusk with a sundowner and watch animals come to drink at the river. The safari tents are comfortable and novel. We had luxury toiletries in the en suite bathroom. The lodge was an attractive building with a wonderful pool. Staff were helpful and attentive without being annoying. The power goes off at eleven, and guests are advised to take a staff escort back to their tent after dark. A charging station for computers, cameras, phones etc is provided at the bar. There is free wi-fi, although this was a bit unstable the night we were there. The food in the restaurant was good, particularly the breakfast. One lady having a birthday sparked an impromptu "Jambo Bwana" song and dance from the wait staff, which was most entertaining. The highlight of our stay was the wealth of wildlife around the lodge. Between the lodge and our tent I saw dik-dik, baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs and a mongoose. I heard lions roaring through the night. I would go back tomorrow.

My first real impact with african wild nature. Wonderful !!!! A tented camp with a good restaurant and a beautiful view. And a roaring lion in the dark night at few hundred meters or perhaps tens of meters from my breakable tent !!!
Some friends of mine noticed an unkind behaviour of some female members of the staff. Actually, I noticed it as well in some female members of staff in Tanzania.
We, modern white people, peraphs can't real understand what has been colonization and slavery of african people in passed centuries. Fifty o sixty years of indipendence couldn't delete it.

Thank you so much for your 5 * review! = )))))
Since we are situated in the wild !! I'm happy when guests are happy to hear lions roaring at night. Sometimes they are alot closer !
Our staff and service are normally complimented so I am surprised and sorry
if guests found this to be otherwise. All our staff are wearing their names.
If specifics with who could be supplied, that would be helpful.

Thank you for visiting! And for the very wonderful review.
Welcome again! " Karibu tena "!

Great experience at the Safari Lodge.
We slept in a tent, which is basic, but clean and you get the real safari feel. When you open the curtains, you are in the middle of nature.
We had a wonderful surprise in the afternoon. 5 elephants came to visit the tents. The came really close to eat the nuts on the trees between the tents. A wonderful experience!
The view from your bed / terrace is amazing!!
The lunch is a buffet with a good selection, dinner is served and you can choose from the daily menu. The staff is very welcoming and trying their best.
I would certainly go back there!

Room Tip: Go for the tents in stead of the bungalows for a real safari!

The lounge area has oversized armchairs made from old dhow boats ~ a perfect place to relax. Those wanting something a bit more active can take a dip in the pool, a bird walk around the lodge grounds or hunt for souvenirs in the Baobab boutique. Our twin tents combine the authentic safari atmosphere of 'nights under canvas', with more modern comforts of electric light and en suite bathrooms with solar hot water. We also have bungalows that provide the space and convenience of solid walls yet blend into their surroundings by using local stone and echoing the traditional round Maasai huts.
