The setting for this Lodge is it's trump card - overlooking a great valley with a river running through it, so all the animals take it in turn to come for a drink. The tented lodges are slightly basic - but considering where you are, (remote!) I don't think it's fair to complain. The food, service, views, animals and general look of the place are just plain wonderful. Go if you can.

Spectacular views and lovely lodge. The staff is friendly and helpful, the lodge is open and inviting, the food is excellent. The tents are comfortable and nicely appointed and the first time traveler felt safe and cared for- the perfect introduction for a timid spouse or adolescent kids. Showers & toilets are very good. Of course, in the middle of a national park with abundant wildlife, one must be careful after dark.
I have visited this spot 4 times with new travelers and each echoed the review.

Jambo! We stayed at Tarangire Safari Lodge in January, 2012. Every aspect of our stay recommends the Lodge and exceeded expectations; it was simply a delight. It was the best accommodations and hospitality of our one-month stay in Tanzania (including Zanzibar).
First, this tent lodge is beautifully situated, beautifully built & maintained, and the food and service are exemplary. The plaza overlooking the Tarangire National Park is breath-taking, especially at sunrise and sunset. The eating and lounging areas open directly onto the plaza. A large, multiple-docking charging station is on the end of the bar, plus a business office.
Miss Sarah served us our meals during our stay; she was simply exemplary. Annette Simonson the manager/co-owner was always available, without hovering: she was highly informative, gracious, and flexible.
The lodge’s location just within Tarangire Park made it an immediate safari experience and so convenient to launch our touring in the morning and afternoon. The park was our favorite: its varied topography & botanical specimens, the large number of birds and animals (all three of our cheetah sightings were here) and streams make for a splendid tour. The Tarangire Safari Lodge is both a great launching point for the park, and respite at noon and day’s end.
Having just closed our bed & breakfast after ten years of operation, we could really appreciate the Lodge’s attention to detail and guest satisfaction.
Did I mention the location, owner hospitality, great food & service, and beautifully appointed lodge?

The lodge is situated on the edge of an escarpment where elephant wander 100 feet below you. Enjoy good food and a great staff. Sit in the open air bar around the fire pit. After dinner, savor coffee or drinks while lounging on plump sofas under a lazy fan. The bungalows include a covered sitting area, a perfect spot to watch the sun rise and see wild life like Dik-Dik up close and personal. The huge stone bathrooms have walk in showers.

There are no words to describe the view at Tarangire Safari Lodge; whether from the lounge, dining, patio areas or whether from the patio of your own tent or bungalow, you will have an undescribably awesome view of the Tarangire Park with elephants and white storks captivating you at all times of the day. In addition, animals roam through the camp. Our daughters had three monkeys playing on top of and around their tent. I had two dikdiks playing a couple of feet away from me when I first sat down on the patio of our tent. We were woken up at 1:30am by a family of elephants passing literally five feet away from our tent (chased away by the vigilant security people). Cocktail time was interrupted by a couple of monkeys. There is no better way to experience the Tarangire Park than to stay at the Tarangire Safari Lodge. The tents are basic, but have full bathrooms with a very good shower (once you realize the hot water faucet is on the right versus the usual left side); flaps open on three sides and we had a nice night breeze to help us sleep like babies. The staff tries hard to make you feel comfortable and happy; they worked very hard to accommodate my special dietary requirements going as far as cooking special meals for me when I could not take the offered selection.

Room Tip: You need an escort to go from your tent to the main lounge/dining area after dark, so that may influ...

I recently just spent a month travelling around Tanzania and was lucky enough to stay two nights at Tarangire Safari Lodge. From the moment you arrive it takes your breath away. There is a huge terrace which is elevated and gives a stunning view of all the animals grazing in the plains below. I think every person who has ever been there would agree with me that this view is quite spectacular. The owners, Jon and Annette are extremely friendly and very welcoming and the staff are excellent also. Out of the whole month i spent in Tanzania the two nights at Tarangire stand out for me ! Will defenitly be going back.
