“A perfect start!”

My husband and I stayed at 3 Asilia properties during our Tanzanian safari adventure and Oliver's was our favourite. I think a lot of it has to do with the warm and welcoming nature of it's hosts Jackie and Justin. They welcome you into their "home" and make you feel like the most special guests. Our stay was in tent 2 and it was beautiful. We loved the outdoor shower and looked forward to it after our dusty game drives. There are 8 tents on the property but they are all tucked away in their own spot so one can't be seen from the other. It was wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the animals and birds. All meals are taken at a long table with the other guests at camp. Jackie and Justin are there too. There was lots of lively conversation and opportunity to talk about the days events. I highly recommend Oliver's.

Jackie & Justin team hats off to you guys. I still remember the food. Best hummus I have had in Africa.
Great accommodations and loved the outdoor shower. But please do not take a shower after dark as bugs are waiting.
Our stay was excellent and like the fact that there is no wifi. We really had family time because of no wifi.
And thank you for tsetse fly self made remedy.
They also have this knowledgeable guide Lewis. Ask him about his past experience in bush. I could spent days listening.
Keep up the good work guys!

My husband and I stayed in Oliver's camp for just 1 night of our safari honeymoon around Tanzania. In hindsight we wish we had stayed for longer as it was the highlight of all the accommodations we visited - and we had done our homework using trip advisor to select each one.

The hosts Jackie and Justin were very welcoming and made us feel at home instantly. The camp is located in a very quiet spot inside Tarangire park, and on our visit at the very start of March we saw an enormous amount of elephants and giraffes, and even a pack of lions very close to camp.

To describe this place as a camp almost feels like cheating as this is 'glamping' at its finest. The camp is relatively permanent, so the novelty of staying in a 'camp' surrounded by the sounds of the bush can be enjoyed without comprising on creature comforts. For example our 'tent' had a concrete floor, fully flushing toilet and wonderful hot outside shower.

We took advantage of the night game drive, which was very atmospheric, but did make for a long day. We saw a couple of lions, but more actions seemed to be occurring back at camp with a hyena walking right past whilst we had a late dinner afterwards. Overall for us we didn't feel that the night game drive really offered much outside the day drives. So we would probably not recommend this unless you have time and cash to spare.

The evening meal was really good, and our lunchbox the next day was my favourite of the trip - I am a semi-vegetarian, so I did struggle with bland food at a lot of other places. This was an exception. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

An amazing place to begin a safari. The Tarangire Park has everything and Oliver's Camp is the center piece of the experience. We spent our first two days of a 12 day safari, but easily could have spent the week. Here was the most concentrated animals and birds throughout the trip, The accomodations are first class and made very personal by the managers, jackie and Justin. And be sure and take the walking guide by Lewis (have him show you the warthog dens). Food and sleeping absolutely first class. If you only have a few days for a safari here is where you should go. This was the most surprising and welcoming camp! It is truly luxurious. This is a must stay for any Safari. I can't say enough about the acomendations or the staff. To be able to wake in the morning and feel that you're apart of the landscape in this beautiful area of the world is an unforgettable memory.

Room Tip: There is no pool

We arrived at Oliver's Camp in the late afternoon. What a gorgeous vision it is. We were greeting by Justin & Jackie with smiles, towels to wash up and some fresh juice.

Our tent was a dream come true. It was luxurious but not overwhelming to the point of feeling out of place. The outdoor shower is so beautiful with the sound and views of the bush right there in front of you.

Drinks and snacks around the fire kicked off this living dream -- the stars above incredible. Staff members knew our names before we could even begin the evening!

Our dinner was beyond good -- sitting at a table for 14 (there were 10 in our group, Jackie & Justin and two travelers from Germany) we felt like a family from the start. We were treated to a most lovely meeting with Louis, the guide whose smile lit up the night. He played and sang on his thumb piano with some of the staff backing him up. Our rendition of "the Lion Sleeps tonight" will forever be in my heart.

The staff also joined us in a festive dancing and singing around the table that warmed the heart.

We had delicious made to order breakfast and then our picnic lunches. None of us wanted to leave but we were only booked one night at this delightful camp.

To all travelers -- make this at least a 2 night stay -- another night if you are able. We had to leave too early and the rest of our trip echoed with "wish we had more time at Oliver's Camp."

There are a lot of ‘best’ things about Oliver's, but arguably the best of the best is their fantastic location deep within Tarangire NP. Because of its strategic location you are the first in and last out of the deepest part of the park and you don’t see many other people on your early morning or late afternoon drives.

Other great things about the camp are the huge tents each with their own bathrooms and outside showers (way cool). The views are good and the common area very nice.

Each evening involves chatting about the day around the fire pit with Justin and his wife Jacky as our fabulous hosts. Food was family style and very good.

Take advantage of the walking safari with Louis if you can – what a great experience to be on the ground stalking big game (we saw Lions and Elephants close enough that Louis was a little concerned and the largest termite mound we saw on the trip – a good 12 feet tall and probably over 200 years old!!).

I know there has been a lot of discussion about the tsetse flies but they were not as annoying as we feared they might be. One hint if you use some US/European sunscreen make sure it is odorless.
