The service was impeccable and we felt like the most important guest at the lodge. The treetops rooms were out of this world. A true african experience. Our every need was taken care of without us asking. Although it was a luxury accomodation, the wild nature of africa was preserved. Our only regret is we didn't stay long enough. Will definitely go again!!

My sister and her husband and my husband and I, along with our two young children, were received with a smile by everyone. Our time spent at Tarangire Treetops was wonderful - the location, the staff, and especially, the comfy tree house. The kids were really amazed by the fact that the hot water used in the showers is heated by the sun. They asked my husband if he would build one just like that once we got back home! They are allowed to dream too! My husband and I went on a walking safari with two very knowledgeable and experienced guides. For our safety, one carried a rifle and the other, a spear. We felt very safe. We came close - against the wind of course - to animals such as elephants, warthogs and buffalos. The guides explained which animals come and go, which plants they ate, when the migrations occur, etc. This is a must! I could go on and on...we left feeling we should have booked for much longer!

On the edge of Tarangire National Park this place is tucked away up dirt tracks accessible only by 4x4 vehicles. The staff are the friendliest people you could hope to meet and nothing is too much trouble for the managers Chris and Jo . We went out on a night game drive organised by Chris's staff and returned exhilarated but exhausted to find a complimentary bottle of bubbly on ice in our room . The following morning we went on a bush walk with Chris, investigated a recent kill site and tracked a lion. We stayed in a tree house, ate fantastic food and drank some great South African wines. If you go to Treetops you'll struggle to find anything to match it .

Tarangire treetops is located in a conservation area which borders the national park and although its quite a long way from the road, its well worth the journey. The rooms are built into the trees, but still manage an ensuite bathroom, sitting area and wonderful balcony to watch the sunset. Also come with your personal 'askari' to watch over the house in the evening and escort you to dinner. The staff here are so nice and there is a really good atmosphere in thebar and dining room.
The nearby park is great and we saw some rarities on our two night stay.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Treetops!

However, I must mention that we hit the jackpot on this one because we were actually booked at Kikoti Tented Camp and due to an overbooking, our tour operator moved us to Treetops at NO extra cost to us!! We actually feel a tiny bit guilty about this as Treetops is not even NEAR the same price range as Kikoti, but we certainly were pleased with our luck!!

Treetops is an all-inclusive which we learned upon going to pay for our drinks at the bar!! All drinks are included, even alcohol. The only thing they said was not included was bottles of champagne!

This place is really wonderful!
From the unique lobby built around a huge baobab tree to the wonderful rooms and the stunning bathroom!!

The only negative we could find is the LONG road to get there.
It's at least a one hour, bumpy drive from the entrance to Tarangire.

But once you're here, you'll love it.
We stayed here for 2 nights in late September. The weather was perfect! It was not too hot and cooled down at night and was very comfortable.
The rooms are decorated beautifully. There are beautiful hard wood floors in the huge rooms! The king size bed was comfortable (which to me means not hard). The bathroom has vessel sinks and an awesome two person rain shower! Great water pressure and plenty of super-hot water!
The were many nice touches like bathrobes, full-size hairdryer, electricity converter, and ceiling fan.

Each room is completely isolated, but they are not all built into trees. Ours (room #20) was just set up on stilts.
There is a balcony which is heavenly to sit out on at night and gaze at the billions of stars!!

There was electricity 24 hours a day and they also had free wi-fi in the lobby if you have your own computer. We did not see a computer for public use. The Internet was slow but it did get the job done, just don't expect to stream any video news clips.

Breakfast was a small buffet of breads, cereals, jellies, fruits and juice and then you could order hot food such as eggs.
Dinner was from a menu and was excellent! Each night you had a choice of 2 soups (which were wonderful!), 2 or 3 main entrees to choose from and 2 or 3 desserts.
We did not have lunch in the dining room, but they packed us a wonderful lunch to eat while out on an all day game drive, complete with china, silverware, hot soup from a thermos, salad, pasta, chicken and fruit, juice and water! They even included hot water and instant coffee and tea bags.

There is a swimming pool which closes at 6:30pm.
We also enjoyed the watering hole that they have set up to watch any animals that may happen by looking for a drink.
We only saw waterbuck, but there is a log for guests to report what they've seen, so you might get lucky and see a lion!

The lodge is not fenced off, so at night you must be escorted to your room. Your escort will carry a flashlight and a spear just in case. There are no telephones (or TV's) in the rooms, so you are given an emergency whistle to blow if you need an escort in the middle of the night.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and everyone spoke English.

We loved our stay here and it was our favorite of all the places we stayed! (We stayed at Serena lodges in Ngorongoro, Samburu and Mara.)
This was an amazing and unique experience! And you should spend at least 2 nights here (but not much more is needed to see this park).
Wish we could afford to go back and stay again!!

Stunning individual accommodation, part wood and part canvas, built into the trees. Wonderful food and service with a bar and restaurant looking out over the pool and a watering hole. As it's located in a private park, we were able to do a night game drive and a walking safari, getting really close to the 'local elephants'.

We have stayed there only one night, and this was the only "disslike" connected with this lodge. Staff amazing - during check out we did not pay for any service we used - it was a complimentary gift at the end of our short stay. Before Tarangire we have been at Serena in Serengeti and Ngorongoro and I can not even compare these lodges. Tarangire has its own spirit, reception builded around 700 years baobab tree - just amazing!!!
Masai people in front of the lodge as welcome meeting after horrible 30km ride. This ride was worth all the effort. See the pictures. We lived in house nr 15. Under the house I have found "fresh" and huge elephant poo - very exciting for EU citizen :) In the morning few gazelles were feeding close to our place. See the pictures....I took some panoramas. Want to come back someday....
