We decided to spoil ourselves with a more luxurious lodge on the last night of our 7-day safari trip and opted for the Treetops.
Johan and his team made us feel welcome and special from the moment we arrived there.
The tree huts are beautiful and the view just splendid.
The venue and the quality of the dinner was fabulous too.
We were very sad that we only got to spend one night there. We could have easily pictured ourselves by the pool for a wee while...

We only got to stay 1 night at Treetops, but it was not enough. We live in TZ, and are a family with 2 toddlers. We are blessed with the opportunity to travel and enjoy the natural beauty of TZ, and Treetops is a gem. Imagine telling your kids they're going to sleep in a tree house! The Elewana collection does a great job of giving its clients individual attention, and you don't feel like a part of the tourist machine. Treetops was nearly full, yet we felt like we could be the only ones there, due to the attention of the service, management, and design.

The treehouse accommodated us with our children beautifully, and so comfortably. We slept very well in comfortable beds, soft linens, 24hr electricity and hot water. There was plenty of drinking water in the room for all of us. This is glamping at it's best, sturdy, stylish, creative, and fun. The food was excellent and the Manager, Johan, made sure to consider what our children liked to eat and do. As any parent knows, this is the key to family vacations, and Treetops knew that if our kids were happy then we would be also. Benedict, our "butler" did a great job taking care of us.

The pool is beautiful, and we enjoyed a long swim watching waterbuck drink at the water hole not 50yards away from us. But the real treat is the huge Baobab that the main lodge is built around, which houses bats inside it. At dusk they all fly out, and it's a spectacular and fun sight for adults and kids alike.

Treetops IS in the wild, so of course you must listen to management and rules about running around on your own (especially in the evening). Our children are 2yrs and 5yrs, and very active. But we told them in advance they must stay close to us and made it clear that they could not take off on their own but had certain places where they could run around. This was reinforced by the management and the Masai askaris, and our children were very good about it.

The whole scene at Treetops is beautiful, fun, easygoing and friendly. And if you get a chance, invite Johan for a drink and hear his stories about growing up in Africa. They will round up a perfect trip to Tarangire.

The rooms at Treetops were fantastic and I loved the deck in the treetop room overlooking the wilderness area. The showers had amazing pressure and I loved them. All of the staff was great and the general managers made it a point to meet every guest. We arrived in the afternoon and our laundry was already in our rooms by bedtime. The pool and bar area were also great. We took a hike in the morning and the guide was excellent (although little wildlife was seen- perhaps it was just the day). We stayed here in Feb and the resident elephants were nowhere to be seen on the grounds, but I imagine it would be great in high season.

So why only four stars? The food...For the amount the resort charges, the food should be better and quantities should have been larger- and I only weigh 100 lbs! The dinner was fine but what really bothered us was breakfast and our packed lunch. We ordered soft boiled eggs and we waited and waited.Despite our multiple requests, they never came so we just left because our guide was waiting. The fruit plate we took with us had about three pieces of fruit on it... For the boxed lunch, the food was horrible. The burger for my husband was large, but raw and my vegetarian meal consisted of stale bread, a small wedge of processed laughing cow cheese, a juice box and a 1/4 cup of veggies. The veggies were good, but a 1/4 cup???? At least fill the container.

Overall a great place, but feed your guests some more food for the price you charge!

The Treetops’ rooms are built on platforms high in the trees surrounding the main lodge. The rooms have running water and 24- hour electricity. The water is heated in a boiler below the room that is fired up at 5 am by the security guards so that you can have a hot shower. There is no air conditioning. The service level is very high. Meals are served on a deck overlooking a watering pool for local wildlife. The hotel offers a game walk and night game drives which are atypical in Tanzania—both are worthwhile. It is a bit of a drive to get into the national park, but there is plenty to see along the way. It is hard to imagine that it gets any better out on safari.

Room Tip: The best rooms are closest to the lodge. It can be a bit of hike from the rooms farthest out.

This lodge was the only place, where we, literally, lived in the wild: monkeys investigating the terrace while you are having breakfast, elephants playing nearby pool, weird sounds all around-up-and-down your tree house in the night. Magnificent feeling waking up in the morning on the top of the tree, with unexplainable view...

Food- breakfast and dinner- was very good, though, lunchboxes for safari (as in most of the places) were nothing special, even though we asked and were confirmed for particular lunchbox menu in advance.

Management is a family couple from SA. They were great/professional in all possible ways. It almost feels like, thanks to them, this place is alive...

There's nothing luxurious, but all attributes of a high-profile lodge are present (f.e. in some lodges, the connection between tent/room and reception is not available at all; in treetop every room has a radio transceiver. Little thing, but makes so much difference)

Overall, memorable experience.

Room Tip: Personally, i prefer to stay in the room closer to the main area. When the walk (especially in the n...

My husband and I stayed at Tree Tops in order to safari through Tarangire National Park. We were welcomed after a hot dusty game drive with cool wet facecloths and drinks! Off to a good start! We were taken to our 'tree house' and thought we were in heaven...up the winding spiral staircase, through the trap door and were 'home'. The large room was well outfitted and user friendly....lots of hot water, dual shower heads! The deck looked out onto the park where animals roamed and roared at night. In the evenings, guards escort you to and from the dining room, for your safety. We enjoyed using the refreshing pool. WiFi was available in the lobby. The food was excellent and was the service!
For a different take on travelling in Africa, try this one...you will not be disappointed!!

What a treat! Our first night here, we were awakened by dueling lions, roaring on either side of our 'tree house'. Incredible! The new managers were wonderful!! The rooms were luxurious with plenty of hot water, cleaned well by staff and the guards were always available to walk us to and from our room. Food, dining and drink service was especially attentive. We went on a night safari and saw our first lions in Tanzania! I highly recommend staying here.
