Stayed at Treetops 2 nights; every detail was perfectly attended to. Wake-up trays arrived at exactly 5:45AM; hot breakfast available at 6:00AM (rather than the std lodge time of 7:00). There is a golf cart available for the less mobile or anyone who requests it. Meals were excellent & picnic basket included a thermos of delicious soup. Elephants watering themselves just below the main lodge was special. But then an elephant decided to join the guests for dinner around the firepit & we all had to vacate to the main dining room -- no threat, but a bit of excitement. Later we had to wait a few min before heading to our 'tent' until the last elephant moved on. Treetops was a nice bookend to a marvelous return trip to Tarangire planned again by Africa Dream Safaris.

The only negative is that it takes an hour over some very poor tracks to reach the National Park.

Each of the tents with their en-suite bathroom is reached via a ramp from ground level to a point a few metres in the air around a tree trunk. The view was terrific and unspoilt by other tents. We weren't too sure about the animal noises that we heard at night so were comforted by the escort provided by the Lodge staff. We later assumed that they could just as easily have been eaten.

The whole dining and bar area was completely open and one could see elephants at sunset at a pool created, I presume, by the Lodge.
The food was good, housekeeping was efficient and the Manager and his wife were most generous hosts.
As I have said earlier the only down-side was the distance to the National Park. If we ever revisted that part of Tanzania that would be the only thing that might stop us staying at Tarangire Treetops Lodge.

Dear Handr40 from Sydney.

May I thank you for your review and the kind and complimentary comments you have made about your experiences at Tarangire Treetops. We at the Elewana Collection of camps, lodges and boutique beach hotels value all your comments and I hope the detailed response below helps explain to you and to other readers as to the reasoning behind our location of Treetops.

It is true to say that we are not located inside the Park boundary and that a drive of approximately 50 minutes is required to get to the Park entrance. However the Park has no fences and animals come and go as they please, hence the reason why it is possible for you to see the elephants at the Treetops' watering hole in the evenings, as well as listen to animal 'soundtrack' in the evening.

In fact Tarangire Treetops in located in the elephant corridor which falls under the protection of a wildlife management area (WMA) which in itself is a unique collaboration between the local communities and our lodge, helping to protect the area for the benefit of all the indigenous wildlife.

Also being outside of the Park allows us to provide our dramatic sundowners on Sunset Hill with views over the Rift Valley and of Lake Manyara. It also means that we can offer night game drives as well as night time bush dinners, all of which are extremely popular with our guests.

We do hope to see you again soon and we hope that the rest of your safari was as enjoyable as your time at Tarangire Treetops.

With best regards from all of us at the Elewana Collection,

Jason Barry

What can I say? This place is great! You must take the walking safari, do the night safari and between those the "Sundowner", amazing! Elephants at the resort watering hole are a nice plus. Great team of people. Could have done without the tribal dance both nights and an explanation of the dance prior would have been helpful. Overall, can't say enough about our stay. The accommodations, service and food...all great!

The best place we stayed on our 7 night safari. The treehouse concept is wonderfully executed, with plush tree suites built on massive baobab trees. The service is top notch - Martina our waitress was outstanding. The food outrageously good - 5* for breakfast lunch and dinner.

As amazing as the rooms, service, food, lobby, pool, etc are, the absolute best feature of this place is the watering hole overlooked by the lobby and dining room. During the dry season this is the only water for miles in any direction and there is a steady flow of game to be viewed while you have your meal or drinks. Our first night there were elephants, hyena, and 2 separate lioness visits. They have a little spotlight illuminating the area just enough to see the show.
The next day we came back from our game drive to find a family of 40 baboons having a pool party, complete with the kids raising hell. Then the waterbuck showed up, arriving like a special ops unit, and kicked out the baboons. Then the elephants mozyed in and washed them selves down, squirting water from their trunks all over for a bath. I'll tell you, the game viewing from the lobby is better than in Tarangire. Save your money on the game drive and just have a seat, relax, and enjoy the show.

We had a great stay at Treetops as part of our travel package through Tanzania (so not sure on the price per night since it was part of a tour). Definitely recommend for the uniqueness of the property. Our tree house was comfortable and had great views of the sunset. Food was fantastic and we enjoyed wine by the fire pit each night. Try it out!

We spent a night here while on our safari. The whole experience was amazing. The "tree house" that we stayed in was fantastic. It was very roomy and had everything that could be asked for. We enjoyed the infinity swimming pool although it was a little chilly. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a barbeque dinner which was very good. Afterward dinner the Masai workers put on a show that was almost scary. The only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

We spent two amazing nights (& days) in Treetops with our two kids as part of our SkySafari beginning of August.

- Our "room", #5 if I remember correctly, was incredible: supported by a huge baobab, very spacious - no issue at all to add the two single beds for the kids in this room - a large balcony and a trapdoor allowing to access the room. Really fun to activate. The kids loved it.
On top of that the room is quite close from the main lodge, which means that the probability you bump into a wild animal while escorted at night is low :)
If I'm correct, this is the room which is pictured in the brochure or on the Web site.

- Our butler, Nicholas, was extraordinary. Authentically kind, able to anticipate our needs with a smile. He was certainly the main reason why our stay in Treetops was so great. Thank you Nicholas

- Our guide, Baraka, was very good, able to spot from the very first afternoon day a young leopard close from a termites mound. If you add to this first spot, another leopard, several lionesses as well as many other animals, obviously including herds of elephants, the sight-seeings were great.
The walking safari was rather good even if the one proposed in Migration Camp in the Serengeti is more impressive.
For info, we had an extremely positive feedback from friends of ours on their guide, named Moses. For the regular Tripadvisor readers, he was formerly working in Migration Camp, as an already highly appreciated guide.

- The visit of the Masai village is really nice as the people there are really welcoming. Of course, you can purchase some craft gift but the relationship remained rather authentic. A nice moment.

What can I add more: the car assigned to us was a comfortable Land Rover, with a classical pop-up roof and, interesting point, no windows. Very convenient for taking pictures but also quite (!) chilly when you drive in the morning. Do not forget to take a jumper or a fleece jacket. You will not regret it.

In a nutshell, a great stay, may be the best of our safari (we have not decided yet which lodge between Treetops and the Manor in N'Gorongogo was the best :) ). Just Go, you will love it.
