“Love the Masai guards and night game drive option!”

I was happy I had the opportunity to experience one night at Naitolia. The staff was hard working and the environment really made yoiu feel one with Nature. Great sunrises and the night drive was a great experience (saw advark which is pretty rare). To quote Simon King..."Naitolia is not for everyone" but it defininately fit my bill. Nice break from the routine of the lodges yet not a tented camp.

My husband and I were on a 9 day safari in early September and were lucky to spend a night at Naitolia Camp. We specifically requested of our tour operator, EASTCO, that we wanted a mix of camping and lodges. We are not real "roughing it" types, but did want a chance to truly experience the nature and wild around us. Naitolia camp was perfect. It was a bumpy and dusty trip through the Tarangire Conservation Area to get there, but worth it. We appreciated the little extra comforts after several days of more rugged camping, including longer showers (by bucket shower standards), mosquito netting, battery operated lanterns, and sturdy/substantial tents (the bottom half of the walls and the floors were stone- giving us a little extra feeling of security). The "tents" were more like open air bungalows.

The dining "tent" was beautiful, food was good. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies.

The camp staff was the highlight. We were lucky enough to go on a night drive and a walking excursion while at Naitolia. The young guide who was our concierge at camp led us on the walking excursion. Incredibly knowledgeable and interesting. We got a whole new perspective walking from riding in our Land Rover. I definitely recommend doing this if you stay here- it was a highlight for me.

You get to Naitolia by a dreadful dirt road so we were a bit concerned but once there we loved it. It is in the middle of nowhere. The walls of the huge 'rooms' are part stone, canvas and shadecloth with semi enclosed outdoor toilets and showers.

Two Masai men had the role of 'protectors' taking us to and from our tents (they are quite a distance from each other), and later on a safari walk. We were four women travelling together and the camp is very isolated but at all times felt safe, though two of our party chose to share a tent as they felt too isolated. Two of us loved the freedom and spaciousness of being on our own.

The rooms are very large with a huge comfortable bed with mosquito nets, towels and even soap are provided. It's a lovely experience to have a shower watching the skies in the open.

Their is no electricity so an Led lamp is provided - it is wise to also take your own headlamp/torch. The camp staff did a great job of cooking meals and Edwin the young man in charge made us very welcome.

This is a wonderful place and we loved it, but it may not suit someone who is prone to anxiety if in an isolated place.

I stayed in Naitolia at the end of a fantastic 5 day trek - organised by The East African Safari and Touring Company (EASTCO) during which I was immersed in the wilderness with a very knowledgeable local guide and saw no tourists and cars.

When I reached Naitolia Eco-lodge I was thrilled by the simplicity of the luxury, which allowed me to be in full contact with nature while enjoying comforts of friendly staff, king-size bed and hot open air shower!
