“Stayed here while on safari and loved the permanent tented camp”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Each "room" is a standalone building with its own bathroom, shower, sink, beds and deck. The warthogs scuffled around underneath the wooden elevated flooring at night which was too cool. Wildebeest were wandering the grounds between the tented camp and the lake. A wooden floor, canvas sides all around and netted "windows." We were a party of 3 and each of us had a single bed with mosquito netting all the way around each bed. The food was good at both dinner and breakfast. We got box lunches which we could select the items for. We got there too late to enjoy the pool, but the view from the pool deck and the dining deck were terrific.

We stayed in Maramboi for 2 nights. Beautiful tent (Mbuni on the far end of the camp) with more luxuary than expected. Zebra's, a jackal, wildebeest and impala's in front of our tent and in the distance Lake Manyara. Even giraffe is wandering around. The staff is very friendly. Diner and breakfast is cosy in the open air with nice view of the surrounding. Quality of the food is just ok.
A good place to relax. Rather close to Tarangire NP, but Lake Manyara NP is (too) far away.
Maramboi was a welcome surprise and turned out to be one of the nicest lodges we stayed.

Room Tip: There are large family rooms. Choose a tent with view of lake Manyara.

This is an amazing place! Half-way between Tarangire and Lake Manyara NP and on the shore of Lake Manyara. We stayed in one of the newly built family rooms - 2 interconnecting tent- sided rooms on stilts: Comfortable bed and power shower - all we needed! I woke up extra early so I could unzip the windows and watch the animals - so great! There is a nice dining area overlooking the lake and the dinner was buffet style and one of the best we had on safari. Service was excellent.

I'm so glad we stayed at this place - it was much better than I imagined and we were privileged to meet the owner, Mr Willy, mixed race German and Tanzanian and a fantastic character. I saw him working on the new room and then again serving rice at dinner! Very pleased to see the tourist money staying in Tanzania.

Wish we had stayed more than one night!

We were disappointed to stay only one night at this amazing hotel. The property is under construction, but we were not impacted. It was amazing to have zebra wandering around the property. The bungalows were large, beautifully decorated and really not "tents". Two of the walls are heavy screens that can be unzipped and walked through. There is a large deck with a table and chairs - perfect for zebra watching. We had an amazing dinner under the stars at the restaurant, with food as wonderful as the atmosphere.

We only spent one night here as part of our three-day safari but it was a truly different camping experience. We hadn't really don't much research on where we were staying so our accommodation was a nice surprise. There were zebras, wildebeest and warthogs right outside our tent and all around the common area with the bar, lounge and restaurant. It was great to watch the sunset over Lake Manyara while we sipped our beers after a long, dusty day.

The tents were exactly that, but under a solid roof, raised and a solid wood door. Note: the bathroom is apart of your tent and is only shut off by some curtains so if you're travelling with anyone but a partner or family member, it might get a bit weird. The bed was super comfy with a great big mosquito net and all the windows were open tent "windows" so you can hear all the sounds of outside. I thought it might be cold but it was very pleasant.

The food served for dinner was OK but nothing to rave about. It filled the hole. We got to pack our own lunch the next day which was a nice touch.

I would recommend staying here and lots of people do because when we were there it must have been a full house.

Room Tip: You might ask to be in a room close to the common area as you do have to walk quite a way to the com...

Of our four weeks in Tanzania with stays in eight different accommodations, this was our favourite. Tents are bright, spacious, airy and clean with huge, comfortable beds. En suite bathrooms are also large with separate toilet/shower/sink areas. Lots of shelves and counter space and plenty of large, fluffy towels. Housekeeping also provides each guest with a litre of water per day, which was nice.

The buffet-style food was good and this was one of the only camps we stayed in that let you choose and pack your own boxed lunch each morning, which was a huge plus.

All staff were super friendly and helpful. We did the optional walking safari with a Maasai guard, which was definitely worth the $15 USD. We saw lots of animals up close and it was nice to get out and walk a bit after spending days inside a safari vehicle.

Beautiful setting and convenient for accessing both Tarangire and Lake Manyara NP.

We stayed here for our last night of our safari and really wished we could have stayed longer. This lodge was nothing like the other accommodations. Everything was open air and you can sit by the pool with zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and warthogs all in front of you. Meals were served outdoors, the rooms were comfortable. wifi and electricity at all hours. This was definitely one of our favourite places during our vacation.
