I've been a fan of Zaytoon ever since they opened their original restaurant on Market Street. Their hummus is the best in town. They have a wide selection of wraps, salads, and lots of vegetarian options. I recommend the Sample Plate which has hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, pita and Greek salad.

The atmosphere is like a slightly upscale cafeteria and is a great place to grab a quick and healthy lunch with coworkers. Zaytoon is located in a large office building and is open from 9:00-4:00 on weekdays.

Some pretty good, fresh, healthy, mediterranean food is served here. This is not a place you stumble on by accident, it is on the ground floor on a large office building, with no street presence. It is a bright, cheery, modern place with plenty of inside seating, and acess to seating outside in the building's courtyard area.

This restaurant is committed to, and pround of, its cooking code of ethics which is spelled out on a chalkboard near the pickup window - fresh, local, natural, & healthy. The fare is fairly standard mediterranean, with wraps, pita sandwiches, salads, soups, and a number of vegeterian choices in apps, entrees, and even sandwiches (like an Eggplant Sandwich, or a Falafel Wrap). Of course, they also offer a Thick Angus Beef Burger and a Steak Wrap, in case your are having lunch with a less informed co-worker, or an in-law.

Both the Gyro on Pita and the Chicken Souvlaki in a pita are excellent sandwich choices - though neither is especially loaded with meat - pita and veggies comprise most of what you will consume. Gyro is the typical thinly sliced meat, but is not dry at all, and has a lot of flavor, though the Tzatzikiis on the mild side. Chicken Souvlaki is chunked, rather than the thin, almost paillard version you see else. Flavor is nice, gyro is better, I think.

Basically a fast food setup, but with much better ambiance, and a little less speed out of the kitchen. Place your order, pay, get a number, and fill up your drink. You pick up your order at the window marked: Pickup Here - that's helpful, don't you think? Gyro with a side goes for $7.25, Chicken went fot $7.79, drinks generally $1.90.

Good service, friendly folks, nice lunch place - they're only open 10 - 4 weekdays

Several people had recommended to me that I try Zaytoon's. I wasn't disappointed and really enjoyed my meal. I ordered a soup and 1/2 salad combo -- chicken with greens, greek lentil soup and a Spelt date cookie (total cost $11.50 with drink). The portions were very generous, very tasty, and I left satisfied. They also have a wide variety of freshly made packaged foods that you can conveniently take home: mini peppers stuffed with goat cheese, apricots with goat cheese and honey, dates stuffed with walnuts to name a few (all of which I tried--YUMS). It is well worth a trip downtown for brunch/lunch. The hours of the cafe are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm M-F, but the kitchen closes at 3:00 pm.

Hidden away in the US Trust Building is this little gem...unfortunately for lunch only. It feels like a coffee shop wit a kitchen, but you can get some of the best Mediterranean in the area. Excellent take home foods too. Worth the trip downtown just to get their food.

Best hummus in this city. They make a great angus burger, which you wouldn't so much expect from such a crunchy place.
