Went to this location near lunch time, but ordered breakfast anyway...everything was good and yes, the biscuits are HUGE....but definitely NOT the best biscuit in the area. I did not finish mine, and that is unusual. Service could have been better, my original waitress took "a break" and it was hard to get a refill or even a straw from someone else...I was alone, maybe that is why....some places treat single tables like that....not sure if I will go back. You can get just as good for cheaper in our area.

Friendly, fast, big, hot, yummy. The waitresses were great. Cute aprons.

Pancakes were large, bacon good. Lots of people. Affordable.

Here's the deal. Atmosphere is pretty cool. Food quality is good+. Menu is diverse and service is good. Here's the down side. The waitresses need to dress their age and their build. Don't take a middle aged woman who is a bit overweight and try to dress her in a t-shirt made for a 13 year old. Second is the price. I'm all for paying for quality food, but c'mon....... When did a small oatmeal ding you for $4.23? Oh, and that's before any tip or coffee. That's just for the oatmeal. A small oatmeal with a cup of coffee and a buck tip is going to set you back $7.00. Next, your biscuits are BIG...... We get it. Stop trying to make your biscuits the size of truck tires. This isn't a man vs. food episode. It's simply breakfast.

We're obsessed with this place -- every time we visit our son at college we eat here...EVERY morning. The homemade hash is spectacular (I'm partial to the prime rib version) and the giant biscuits are fantastic (order the apple butter to make this more of a treat). Don't let the line outside intimidate you -- they know how to turn their tables and keep things moving. Been to lunch here once as week (I told you we're obsessed) and the special burger was terrific too

This was our first time in North Carolina and after driving through the night from Massachusetts we were starving. We saw the Smith Street Diner on TripAdvisor so we decided to try it. Everyone was incredibly friendly, service was very quick and the food was excellent. Standard diner breakfast fare with huge portions and it was also very reasonably priced. All around a great experience!
