Smith Street Diner has one of the best breakfasts in town. The only problem is so many people know it, so it can be difficult to get in without a wait. The real secret seems to be knowing it's also one of the best homestyle cooking restaurants, not just in Greensboro, but period. Great for dinner and much less crowded.

Never disappoints. One of my favorite BLT's ever! Amazing how much food they put out of that small kitchen!

Besides breakfast and lunch Smiths is great for Dinner. If you miss home cooking, this is the place to go. Also love the ambiance , it's right out of the 50s. We often get take out at dinner.

Every town has a great breakfast spot. Smith Street is one of 3-4 in Greensboro that if you didn't know about you would pass it easily and look for a chain. This is a great "country meal" spot wether for lunch or breakfast. Small, old and great food and staff. Largest biscuits that I know of in the state averaging 5-6 inches wide and as good as anyone's grandma

Needed a place to eat while going through Greensboro, as always, I checked out Tripadvisor to get some ideas. This place gets rave reviews for their breakfast food, but I opted to try lunch instead. Ordered a grilled ham and cheese with a cup of gumbo. The sandwich was good but the gumbo was awesome! I consider myself a soup connoisseur, this gumbo is the bomb. I like to observe what others are having and everything looked good. The biscuits are huge, I don't know how one person could eat the whole thing. The gumbo comes in a cup or bowl portion. I got the cup and it was bigger than most bowls. My favorite thing about this place is that they are open eight days a week. Who can beat that?
