“Man v Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

This is a place with lots of atmosphere and lots of room with great beer. Unfortunately the food is below par. The portions are so big they are intimidating and there is too much of everything.
The French fries are skinny, cut from unpeeled potatoes and look and taste like they were cooked yesterday, stone cold with a flavor and texture of cardboard. The sandwiches have too many ingredients and are usually covered in a combination of runny gloop which does not do anything to compliment the main ingredients for example; why would you want marinated pork loin covered in shredded cole slaw, Swiss cheese, brown mustard AND Russian dressing.
Talk about Man v Food, the menu is an homage to gluttony.
They need a good dose of Gordon Ramsay; simplify the menu and make it fresh, tasty and hot.

“I don’t think that this is a real "brew" pub that makes it own beer”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

All of their beer on tap tasted suspiciously like a brand of beer that was commercially available from another source, as if they were simply buying commercial brands and relabeling them as their own (Their “Hessian Hefeweizen” tasted strangely similar to a “Blue Moon” from MillerCoors, for example -- at least I could not tell the difference). Even if they are making their own, the fact that their beer tastes just like everyone else's kind of defeats the purpose of going to a brew pub in the first place – since the main appeal of brewing your own beer is that it is supposed to taste like something unique that you could not find anywhere else. If the “home brew” tastes just like something that you could buy from the corner 7-11, then what’s the point of driving all the way downtown just to be here? The ambiance is good, however, and I liked the fact that they sold small “sampler” sized glasses, so you could try different kinds before you committed to a pint. And at least they copied brands of beer that are popular, so there is a good chance that you will find a style that you like. If you are in downtown Greensboro and have nothing better to do, this place isn’t bad, but Cooper’s Alehouse on Market Street has a better selection (and live music some nights), and the Irish pub across the street is more quaint, if you just want atmosphere.

“Lunchtime Delight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

The downtown area is a nice setting. You can score free parking if you keep your eyes peeled.
The ambience is open and lively - no quiet nooks here.
i sat at the bar in back. The server was attentive. I was there more for the beer than the food. The house salad was tasty. I had a single beer and was not let down. it tasted fresh. It had good flavor.
What's more, the people around me were open to chatting. I kept to myself, but they opened a conversation that continued for a bit and moved from Corvettes, to cars, to travel.
Good place for a solo traveler who likes beer.
