I was staying at the O'Henry hotel on business and someone at work told us that the best restaurant in Greensboro was in our hotel. I was not sold and waited until the last night to try it out and we are glad we did. Not only is the restaurant beautiful, the service was exquisite and food outstanding. I really wished we had tried it sooner because I would had definitely come back for a second visit.

We visited the Green Valley Grill in Greensboro for dinner on a Sunday night in September. My daughter is in college in Greensboro, so we are just beginning to explore the dining scene there. We were celebrating a family birthday and we were looking for someplace that was special and also open on Sunday night (as many well-reviewed restaurants in Greensboro are closed on Sunday).

The Green Valley Grill exceeded our expectations. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive, without being cloying. The meal started with thick multi-grained bread and fresh butter. The bread was perfect - soft on the inside and nicely crusted on the outside - it seemed to be freshly baked. We then had a basket of truffle fries (frites) which were dusted with parmesan and arrived crispy, hot and very tasty. Though I thought I was ordering these to accompany our meals, the waitress brought them as an appetizer. Everyone at the table took one look at them and decided to eat them right then and there. Following this, we all had dinner salads with a yummy sherry vinegarette (these are small lettuce salads that accompany the meals - there are other more elaborate salads on the menu). We chose items from the small plates and entrees - short-rib sliders with more truffle fries, a small portion of Valencia Style Paella (loaded with seafood), a wood-fired rotisserie chicken and an order of that evening's Chef's rotisserie special, which was a perfectly-cooked tenderloin with a tomatoed cream sauce, mashed potatoes and nicely done grilled asparagus.

Though we hardly had any room left, we still ordered Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee, Peaches and Creme (with zabaglione and meringue) and Apples Crostata (with buttermilk ice cream) for dessert. The Creme Brulee had a lovely raspberry sauce drizzled on top and was perfectly crusted. The only complaint about the meal was the Apples Crostata, which was dry inside (it was made with Granny Smith and Gala apples, both of which are on the dry side and need additional liquid when baked in a crust - something a pastry chef should know).

Overall, we paid about $175 with tip for an excellent meal for four (though if you were getting four full entrees and several alcoholic beverages, the cost would be considerably higher). I should also point out that the restaurant itself is "fancy," though most people were dressed casually. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a special place to eat in Greensboro.

A pleasent place for a nice Sunday brunch. Try "toad in a hole" or sour dough French toast. Steaming coffee gentle music in the background make it a good visit.

A party of three of us had dinner there in August 2012. All of us had seafood mains. The food was excellent and prices in line with quality. I highly recommend this restaurant. Excellent decor. Obviously popular with locals as we saw a lot of table hopping for greetings and conversations. Adjacent to the O. Henry Hotel. I suggest reservations.
